is it time to eat crow about Dwight King?

Pretty sure teams now gameplan for Dwight, and they still can't stop him. It's not long before they start shadowing and double teaming him on the ice, and I'll tell ya it ain't gonna work.

I'm sure they gameplan for him or the line in general, but I'll tell ya, they will NEVER double team dwight...otherwise they leave one of Carter or Kopitar open and that's a game over. If anything, I was worried Kopi would start being doubled because Carter isn't great with carrying the puck through traffic but King's emergence with those two has made that line more than a handful!

You are acting like either of those guys have as much skill as Dwight! That is clearly not the case. Just look at the last four games:

King: 3g, 3a - 6 pts
Kopitar 2g, 0a - 2 pts (scored those goals because 3 guys were on Dwight)
Carter 2g, 4a - 6 points (Most of those points are because he just gave the puck to Dwight)

No contest.

Duh-Wight King bashing is going on over on the Oscar Moller thread and belongs here.
What happened to him? He was 10 times that player through December and now just skates
around and does almost nothing. Is he injured?

All the red spots indicate his failure to hit an opposing player...

LOL! It's not just that, he was making plays and scoring some goals in the first 3 months and everyone took notice. Lots of crow was served to the point the price of crow rivaled filet mignon! He's not doing anything. If he wasn't wearing a Kings jersey,
you couldn't tell what team he was on.

unfortunately Dwight K. is back to his usual self. He's doing the little things with his big body but offensively he's in the same tier as Dustin Brown.

If Pearson and Toffoli can adjust their games to play more aggressive and physical, why can't Dwight? I don't expect him to run guys Lucic-style, but Christ, grow a pair and use that size!

I hate the fact that he doesn't fight through checks. If he's pinned along the boards, he'll just stay there until the play moves on...happened more than a few times with Dan Boyle in the first round, a guy Dwight has to have 25+ pounds on.

When Dwight gets the puck, he skates straight ahead, no matter what. It doesnt matter if 4 players are lined up over there, Dwight does it.

Eventually he's pinned along the boards.

I have yet to see him take a different route. Perhaps next season.

Dwight King didn't choose the right time to suck. He is RFA and this performance will hurt his negotiating position. I think DL offers him about the same numbers as Lewis got. DL overpaid Brown and Lewis already, I hope Dwight King isn't next bad contract on the team.

Too bad, he was clicking alright with Stoll and Brown following the Olympics until he picked up that injury. All good things must come to an end, but his regular season input really helped us get to the postseason.

I understand people are upset that King doesn't run around and smash people Like Reeves of the Blues.

But if you watched King in Jr's and Manchester, that's not his game, never has been.

Won't ever be.

So it's up to Kings management (Lombardi/Blake) to decide if they are ok with that.

The curse of being BIG. Never ending questions about why he's not using his size enough.

It's not so much about him crushing players left and right and being a bulldozer on the ice, but just being in the areas he should be in, like the front of the net, or digging pucks out of corners and getting it onto the stick of his linemates or just driving the net like he was when he was compiling goals/points from doing some dirty work in the hard areas. His physical game has been devoid it seems. Not just in the form of initiating contact but he's avoiding it as well.

Now I don't know if it is due to his conditioning or his body being beat up or what, but the team needs guys like him and Stoll and Lewis and Clifford to do something out there when the top guys aren't getting any support. They have to do more with the ice time they are given.

Probably true, heh. It's a funny thing in hockey, though. Lots of gigantic dudes who are relatively soft, lots of little guys who play super gritty. Even within our org, you have King, Schultz, Forbort(?) compared to Weal, Richards (08 model I guess), the departed Kozun, etc.

I've always wondered how much of a dick I would be out there if I were 6'6" instead of 5'8" but I guess coordination as you're growing up is probably a pain if you're a giant.

Anyway, King is one who could use his body like Kopi--doesn't necessarily have to go out to kill (though I'd love a Reaves style) but should be even better on the boards with protection. He's good, but has the body to be great.

Plus needs explosiveness but I assume that's also tough when you're a brick ****house.

If you guys look closely, whenever someone passes to King, he absolutely handles the pass like it's going 200 mph. I've never seen a player have so much problem handling a pass.
