Management Is it time for Delaware North to give the Golden Parachute to Cam Neely?

Not really how it works

Neely is Sweeney boss - he’s not day to day but part of the process

It’s quite standard

Sather, Gorton, baseball like Friedman, Dombrowski etc

Neely weighs on significant moves but he’s not discussing signing Cole Koepke - but certainly would be involved in updates of contract negotiations and big FA acquisition

How it’s done especially in baseball and hockey organizations where there are layers to this

Wasn't that the issue between Chia and Cam? And there are guys, Don Waddell comes to mind, that are GM and head of Hockey Ops and call the shots about the on-ice product. Recent example here is the sacking of Cassidy. I would like to see it.

What has Chara ever done to be GM?

Bergeron as President?

I hate to tell the under 40 crowd but Neely was a better player and more popular than 37 in his hey day.

No one has ever told me when I responded in person why Neely should be fired that I didn’t think was ridiculous

I might be wrong but I do think you drink beer or tea with Cam.......;)

Yes Chia and Cam

I like Chia but he couldn’t butter his toast without getting opinions soft, margarine, taste like butter

Idk what that last sentence was all about but I think my assertion makes total sense

And then in 20 years we can hire Brad Marchand as President and Charlie McAvoy as GM

It’s not funny man, do you not see how serious the proposal is? Are you not paying attention to how serious the decisions are that are made by the Jacobs family?

My guess is 40 years from now Brad Marchand’s sister’s Uber eats driver can run goalie conditioning after Essensa retires

Yeah, it really is.

And that was the right call.

Overview: The President's main function is to keep the work of the organization moving towards its goals along with monitoring the Club's health and overall direction.

IMO, since Cam Neely is there, Boston Bruins have been an absolute regular success team + 3 SC appearance, 1 SC championship, a couple of President trophy and one of the best NHL season.

IMO, since Cam Neely is there, Bruins upgraded their brand, fans base and revenue.

Right now Boston do have a face wind. Right now, they are not a SC challenger. Nothing is said and done with the PO.

I do not have any problem with this. But one thing seem a fact, is that Neely had some success. You may want him gone... past success is not a future confirmation of success.

you should try without alcohols then.
Have a nice one..
haven’t had one in a few years since I began mentoring adults in need

And why would I order one without alcohol it wouldn’t be a LI iced tea

Who is a Stanley Cup challenger

I had an argument when Winnipeg was 15-1 they were frauds here - about 2 weeks ago and Bruins would catch them

I’m pretty smart but even I didn’t expect Boston to catch them by Jan 1

He did that one year after Neely was promoted to put his boot in Chia's ass.

Both guys involved got the job done. No reason to discount the contributions of one or the other.

I wasn't- was replying to Dan making fun of Chia. At any rate, the Bruins are satisfied with the situation as it is. I'd like to have one guy in charge but that is just me and I get that it is often not the case.

I just wanted to add the last sentence because it was one of the few posts I'll ever make that doesn't look biased.

No shade intended on you and I should have made that clear.

What I liked about Chiarelli is he iced the toughest team to win a Cup since the 70s. Chara, Looch, Thornton, Mcquaid, Campbell, Boychuk, Ference and Horton. He even had Brian McGratton on the opening night roster. Each one of those players brought more than just toughness. McGratton was the one exception, but he never actually suited up.
This league will never have that tough a team again, let alone a cup winner.

Bold part, is a very good question. And I agree, answer will be known at the end of the season! Boston is not out yet.

So, what happened the year after they won the Cup? I mean, they stayed
up there in the standings and went to the finals yet again in '13 but then Chia started making IMO bizarre moves. As someone else said 2 second rounders for Brett Connely, and trading Boychuk for those 2 picks? I know he was up against the cap but WTF!?!?
Sounds like I'm not a fan of Chiarelli but I am.
He f***ed up, and lost his job for it. He had high ups, and low downs but
as soon as he had the "low-downs" he was gone like shit through a monkey.

If you recall that season, the Bruins came out of the gates faster and stronger than the 2022 Bruins. They then had that January rematch against the Canucks that turned into a blood bath and ended with players injured and suspended. The team never really recovered from that game.

That might've been Chiarelli's strongest team prior to that meltdown.

The only move I don't really blame Chiarelli for is the Boychuk trade. It killed the team, but it really had to be done. Boychuk's next contract with the Isles should show they were going to be doomed if they didn't jettison him. The timing can certainly be argued, though, as it really did torpedo that season.

You're right, once he was forced to scramble, it all went right down the toilet.
