If you never venture to the main boards please go to the Stanley Cup Playoff Section. It is amazing to see what fans from other teams are saying about our Columbus Blue Jackets. It is amazing to see it.

Hola friends. I have to be on a bus tomorrow while the game is being played :(

I know someone posted somewhere that if you download the CBJ app you can listen to the CBJ radio broadcast. I am being too lazy to look it up. Would anyone who is knowledgeable give me a hand- which ap is it? The iphone app store has a few CBJ apps and I want to be sure I get one that has that feature, if there really is such a one.

And I have used the "word" app way too many times in this post.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

If you have an IPhone, type Columbus Blue Jackets in the app store search, and its the app made by Colhoc Limited Partnership, for me it was the first one.

Thanks, CBJ********16!

;)

I use the NHL App. It allows you to listen to any NHL game and choose if you want to listen to the "home" broadcast or the "away" broadcast.

When you open the app...just click on the schedule and choose the game you're interested in, then look for the "headphone image" at the top of page.

I guess if you subscribe to Center Ice Online, you can even watch the games. Also, if you are a Verizon customer, you get free access to "NHL Tonight" live streams.

That sounds like good amazing? Anything more specific (thread or posts), because I just give up going there when I'm seeing mostly dumb stuff like about Blue Jackets swept in 4, Blue Jackets are this year's Islanders, Pittsburgh's dominated without needing Crosby or Malkin.

Only good stuff I've seen is about Jack Johnson and that Blysma is an idiot for leaving JMFJ off the Olympic team.

When the playoffs were first starting and you went to the CBJ vs Pitt Thread the non Pens fans were very postive and very much rooting for us. It was nice to read.

Thanks, Bobcat. I started to download this one but the one CBJBrassard talked about was already on my phone and it did the trick just fine. It was the Columbus broadcast.

This was the first time I'd listened to radio broadcasts since the first season, and I have to say it was really nice. I even liked the intermissions. Granted, I was a captive audience, but the first intermission was with Burnside and the second was Cassells. They were good interviews because they had a lot of time to kill, so they were like 8 minute conversations. Good stuff. Disclaimer, I can't stand Burnside

So apparently our old pal MacLean was talking some trash on the radio today. Here are some choice nuggets:

Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 3h
MacLean "the cannon in Columbus wasn't my idea. The fans kept sending me letters about it"

Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 3h
MacLean "I knew I was going to get fired and I decided to approve it and began chuckling because I knew I wouldn't be there for it"

Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 3h
MacLean "do you know how hard it was for 9 years, while I was there, to explain to people what a Blue Jacket was?"

Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 3h
MacLean "it was never ending trying to figure out how they came up with that damn name"

Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 3h
MacLean "in year 3, I was walking through the TO airport and people shouted out to me about what I was doing now"

Hope_Smoke ‏@Hope_Smoke 3h
MacLean "I told them that I was in Columbus and they told me to not worry that I would be back in the NHL soon"

Then Portzline chimed in with this beauty:

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 1h
So, April 5, 2007 ... Klesla scores twice in third period to start a rally from 3-0 down and #CBJ win 4-3. Then pres/GM Doug MacLean ...

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 1h
... walks into post-game dressing room, starts blustering at asst. coach Gord Murphy that he should be playing Klesla heavier minutes ...

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 1h
...and keeps going and going and going until coach Ken Hitchcock stands up and tells MacLean to "get the ---- out of the dressing room. Go!"

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 1h
You might say that was the beginning of the end of MacLean in Columbus. Neutered, he was fired a few months later, replaced by Howson.

Does he know how hard it was for nine years to listen to that son of a ***** telling everyone that Dan Fritsche and Filip Novak were future all-stars, or that Scott Lachance and Luke Richardson were top-pairing defensemen?

Funny, he's said several times that he was completely blindsided by being fired. Something about being assured that he was safe, then as soon as the McConnells went on vacation, that he was called into a postseason meeting and fired.

Or that he wouldn't trade our roster for Detroit's. This could be a fun game with Dougie. Pretty sure we have him beat.

I forget the premise, but JH McConnell said at one point, I'll have MacLean walk across the Olentangy river with me standing on his shoulders.

That was if we didn't make the playoffs in year 3. To paraphrase:
"If we don't make the playoffs next year, I'll walk across the Olentangy River. And I won't get wet because I'll be standing on Doug MacLean's shoulders."

Very good, thank you for the context!

I'd imagine a meeting between Howson and MacLean in 2007 being like the old cheese shop sketch from Monty Python. The owner proclaims it to be the best cheese shop in the area, but when asked about any specific cheese, has to admit that he has nothing.

"This is the best roster and farm system in the entire NHL!"
"Do you have a future HOFer?"
"No."
"Do you have a first-line center?"
"Not today, but we're expecting one soon."
"How about a first-line left wing?"
"Not today."
"First-line right wing?"
"Oh, of course!"
"Then let me have it."
"Ohhh...look at that. The country club's gotten to him!"
"Okay then. How about a first-pairing defenseman?"
"Oh, absolutely! The best you can ask for!"
"Let's see it."
"Bloody hell, he's old and gone moldy!"
"....I'm going to ask you if you have any player or prospect actually in a position that they're supposed to be, and if you say no, I'm going to force you onto a Toronto radio station. Now. Do. You. Have. Anyone. Playing. Where. They're. Supposed. To?"
"....no."
"That's it, off to radio with you."

(Sketch in its entirety if anyone wants to see it:)
