I don't think I've watched more than a few minutes of any the outdoor games. I know this year, I watched zero of the game on January 1st. Zero of last night's game. Zero of Sunday's game. I did tune in briefly on Saturday night's game in LA after I got home from CBJ/Buffalo game because they had KISS doing pregame/intermission concert
I think they've already killed the novelty of it by having four this year. Sounded like they had trouble selling tickets in LA, as I kept seeing NHL Network advertising promotional tickets last week. By the time they decide to do one including the CBJ, it'd just be the NHL saying "Ok...we've already sapped everything we can out of Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, NY and other big market fans. Let's take it down to the Lower Tier markets and squeeze their wallets." They could only do Columbus for ticket sales, as I just don't think they would be able to generate much TV interest nationally.
I am excited for the All-Star Game for the City. We went to 2004 ASG in Minnesota and it was a great time. More so for the hoopla surrounding the weekend instead of the actual game/skills competition. The Convention Center hosts vendors, trophies, HOF displays and hockey games/activities that anyone can go to. A great chance to meet hockey fans from all over North America and some from Europe to showoff Columbus. Minnesota built a huge Ice Castle that was pretty awesome and had the Bare Naked Ladies do a private party/concert after the ASG inside the Castle. Guess it was for VIPs, but somebody offered us their tickets and we got in. Free Irish Coffees, Food and BNL in a light snow storm inside the Ice Castle was a blast. There weren't a lot of people in there, so you can get up close to the stage.
