It might be time to start talking about Todd Richards as a Jack Adams candidate.

An 8 game winning streak cannot be ignored..., sometimes goalie perforamce is as much a factor in winning as the head coach, lets wait for the playoff first round results even if awards are only based on the regular season...

Sounds like the Jackets really want an outdoor game next season. Already have the All-Star game here in 2015, think we might need to wait another year to get outdoor game.....assuming OSU lets the CBJ use Ohio Stadium.

4 outdoor NHL games likely next season. Tons of interest. SJ, Phx, Col, Bos, Minn, CBJ, etc. Toronto pushing hard for Winter Classic....

I doubt we get one next year. There's no real rivalries and the team that was trending upwards last week is falling back to Earth this week. Too unpredictable at this point. Maybe the year after next, but even that will probably be too soon.

We are years and years away from obtaining the visibility to get an out door game. Most people probably think Columbus, Georgia is too warm for an outdoor game.

Oh please, now that Horton signed with us there are probably like 10 guys in Canada that think we're in GA (the 10 guys that don't follow hockey). They all know where the Columbus Zoo is now.

I know everyone is in love with an outdoor game, but not in this case. I'm not going to pay a premium to watch guys play grown up pond hockey with potentially crappy weather (either too hot or silly cold). If I have to watch a hockey game with it snowing, I will be indoors.

Some people say I'm basically Canadian in a few ways, but pond hockey to me is what you watch the kids play or something you do for fun on the weekend. Not something you spend $100 to see.

I favor the exposure an outdoor game would bring to the CBJ, Columbus, and the 'Shoe, but I most certainly won't be in attendance!

As much as I'd love an outdoor game, I really don't want to see the franchise embarrassed by getting 30,000 people into the 100,000+ Ohio Stadium. And not to be a negative nancy but that's what I see happening at this point. Maybe in 5 years.

And I don't want to see the game in Cleveland. Ugh...

Agree... in time but not now... we are not ready simply because we've never won one simple playoff game.. in time.

Well, if there was an outdoor game played in the Shoe, you can bet Detroit will be the opponent. They'll bring 20-30k just on their own.

I think the CBJ are doing what they did for the ASG. Putting their name out there now, so that in the future they can get it. If I recall correctly, we had our name in the ASG ballot as early as 2011 and we finally got it in 2013.

The CBJ got the ASG so soon for one reason.... our fans...

I don't think I've watched more than a few minutes of any the outdoor games. I know this year, I watched zero of the game on January 1st. Zero of last night's game. Zero of Sunday's game. I did tune in briefly on Saturday night's game in LA after I got home from CBJ/Buffalo game because they had KISS doing pregame/intermission concert:laugh:

I think they've already killed the novelty of it by having four this year. Sounded like they had trouble selling tickets in LA, as I kept seeing NHL Network advertising promotional tickets last week. By the time they decide to do one including the CBJ, it'd just be the NHL saying "Ok...we've already sapped everything we can out of Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, NY and other big market fans. Let's take it down to the Lower Tier markets and squeeze their wallets." They could only do Columbus for ticket sales, as I just don't think they would be able to generate much TV interest nationally.

I am excited for the All-Star Game for the City. We went to 2004 ASG in Minnesota and it was a great time. More so for the hoopla surrounding the weekend instead of the actual game/skills competition. The Convention Center hosts vendors, trophies, HOF displays and hockey games/activities that anyone can go to. A great chance to meet hockey fans from all over North America and some from Europe to showoff Columbus. Minnesota built a huge Ice Castle that was pretty awesome and had the Bare Naked Ladies do a private party/concert after the ASG inside the Castle. Guess it was for VIPs, but somebody offered us their tickets and we got in. Free Irish Coffees, Food and BNL in a light snow storm inside the Ice Castle was a blast. There weren't a lot of people in there, so you can get up close to the stage.

I think it would be great to have an outdoor game at the Shoe, but I agree with folks that its stale to have so many outdoor games every year. I think 2 per year is plenty. If that means we have to wait until 2024 then so be it.

Honestly I have no interest in having an outdoor game here. I mean I'd go but I doubt it would be a very special event for mny people. Until we develop a rival and sell out the building without the help of opposing fans every time I'll pass on an outdoor game, and think the NHL would as well. If/when we do eventually get the game, I want to be able to have a majority CBJ fans or at least 50/50. No offense but if we played a team like Pittsburgh at the Shoe there would be between 70,000 and 80,000 Pens fans I would guess. It's hard enough to put up with the 9-10 thousand indoors, imagining that on such a large scale gives me no interest whatsover.

This was noted in today's Puckrakers:

-The Jackets have 100 points (46-28-8) in their past 82 games, dating to last season

This is encouraging, but frustrating at the same time. I know this is a better team, the numbers above show this a better team, they're not an easy win anymore, but we still haven't been rewarded with a playoff appearance. It has to happen this season and I think it will, but the waiting is the hardest part.

Speaking of Puckrakers- Anyone else having trouble with it? I can get to the page but the posts are missing?

All the articles are way down on the page for me (I have to scroll what would be slightly more than an after-game article). Weird.

Which is why I don't get some people's exasperation with Richards. I think we have the makings of a really good coach behind our bench. He may make some lineup choices or in-game non-decisions that some don't agree with, but he's doing something right. He's getting these guys to play for him. And in my book, he's still a relatively young coach who has time and room to grow in his deficient areas.
