Injury Report: Injury Thread Pt. II (Del Zotto has surgery to repair sports hernia)

I think most everyone believed Nash was the one playing with an injury. Turns out Cally and Hags were the ones, and Nash is currently in lala-land thinking he did good in the playoffs.

Back when Cally first had his "shoulder subluxation" I was in here saying he would need surgery eventually. Everyone called me out for "not being a doctor" and not knowing what I'm talking about, but would ya look at that. Guess I was right.

Get well soon. This surgery sucks from personal experience. Knew Callahan would be getting it, but didn't know about Hagelin. I thought Hags played well in the playoffs too.

Recovery is 4-6 months, but you're really not 100% until 8 or 9 months. Lingering soreness/pain that comes and goes with the weather/overuse.

Hagelin hurt his shoulder when he was tackled in the SEL during the lockout and was rehabbing it.

Probably that and the wear and tear of a 48 game season plus playoffs added to it. BBKers mentioned that he might need surgery and that was back in December.

The thing this alters (or does it) if Asham/Pyatt/Powe are retained? I still say trade them for picks and go for low end depth UFAs who can add more offense like a Lantrandrese as someone mentioned on cheap one year deals. Maybe they catch lightning in a bottle in addition to the rookies.

Ryan Callahan played every game after Jan. 29 with that torn labrum in his left shoulder #NYR (51 games in all, including playoffs)

Could possibly explain why Cally kinda strayed away from the grind it out balls to the wall game he usually plays

Get the **** out of here! Seriously?!

I was calling into question his captaincy. Well, there still are those vanilla and docile interviews..but, wow, really?!

I'm never questioning my captain again.

That explains why Cally looked subpar for the regular season and the playoffs.

Don't get into stupid fights, Cally!

Considering the amount of pain killers he must've been on it's a wonder he could skate in a straight line.

Unreal. I hope when he comes back he can revert to "balls-to-the-wall" Callahan.

I can't remember who, but didn't someone claim that Gabby was "out of shape" because of his torn labrum?

someone needs to dig that up, and then tell Carl Hagelin (known for his fitness level) and Ryan Callahan (hardest working guy in the NHL?) that they need to get in shape.

This^.
Real heart effort by both.

That said, as I have noted elsewhere at the proper thread, we need to make trades that give us more high end prospects that = added depth that will help us with this aspect of injury risk, as well as making us a better team by having a greater number of better players.

This is also, as said at proper threads, confirmation that stupidity of Torts system did not help. Sure, players have to and damn better, play hard, preferably on every shift, whatever the system. However, Torts' everybody has to block shots and get out of position to do so, could not have helped.

Again KUDOS to Capt Cally and Hero Hags.

Wait. Hold on a ****ing second.

You're telling me Cally did THIS

with a torn labrum in THAT SHOULDER??

crow ****ing eaten. cally the king

minor tear in my shoulder recently and i wouldn't even carry a bottle of water. FIFTY GAMES?! No ****ing way!

Definite props to Cally (and Hags) for playing through these injuries. I'm surprised that a lot of you guys seem surprised about Cally though. I thought we all knew that he wasn't 100% coming back from that injury, and watching him play you had to know. The people that were questioning his heart, again, Ryan Callahan's heart, were either insane or just didn't realize he was hurt. Hopefully both of these guys can be back at 100% by training camp.
