We should hear about if Doresett will be availble for game 1 today. Going for the MRI to see if he's ready for contact.

Neither Staal nor Moore play on the right side and I don't want either of them out of position for the playoffs. I don't know if he's ready to get 2nd pairing minutes but Staal with MDZ makes the most sense. Maybe do Moore-DZ and Staal-Stralman.

I've actually read in a few places that Moore has a bunch of experience on the right.

Haley replaces Asham (WHO Costs only 75 k to demote)
1-2 of Boyle, Pyatt or Powe (depending on the MZA and Clowe resigning s) are traded at the deadline
Frees up roster and cap space to put together a nice roster
I think Lindberg makes the team
Fast mid season
Miller most likely
Kreider (under Torts) is the big ???
All othe guys incl Big Mac (pending trades) are very dark horses

Honestly, I think only Lindberg makes the team out of camp. The rest will be mid season.

Moore-Del Zotto sounds like a very interesting pairing that can provide offense from the back end. As long as they aren't matched up against Backstrom-Ovechkin. We should be good.

I'm gonna take a guess at the match-ups Torts will try.

McDonagh-Girardi against Ovechkin/Backstrom (Line 1)
Del Zotto-Staal against Ribeiro/Brouwer (line 2)
Moore-Stralman against Johansson (Line 3) and line 4.

Staal and McDonagh are interchangeable.

Boyle is one of our top PKers, I know you used the sarcasm emote but I'm sure there are people who legitimately think we're better off without Boyle. We have a pretty weak PK heading into the playoffs without Boyle. You really want Nash out there against the Caps PP? Just sayin'

The problem is that Torts is going to play him in the top 9 and the PP. It's sickening. I don't want to see Boyle in a Rangers uniform for that reason.

No Clowe or Boyle today. Staal in regular jersey. Dorsett in non-contact.

No Clowe on the ice is worrisome for me.

Neither of those two are particularly strong blueliners. I'mjust as worried about them being matched up against good strong cyclers like Ward and Chimera. Still, it can't be perfect.

If Clowe has a sprain, then I wouldn't expect him on the ice this morning. Rest is the key to recovery there.

Does that mean that Dorsett failed his MRI, or is it this afternoon? Good to hear about Staal.

Doesn't mean he had/didn't have an MRI. Rangers won't release that information until the last possible second. They are very quiet on the status of their injured players.

Seeing how Pitt is handling the Crosby situation, the Rangers could opt to MRI Dorsett on the last possible day before they need to play, thus giving him the most time to heal.

That being said, it would make sense for the Rangers to allow Dorsett an opportunity to practice, full contact, with his new line mates. Crosby has years of chemistry with his, Dorsett none.

Was sprain being discussed in the past? Seemed most people were convinced it was a head injury? I missed that game so I have no idea what to think.

Some people think it's a concussion, some of the sportswriters seem to think it's a right leg injury. I haven't heard sprain before, although that's as likely as anything else at this point.

Staal still has issues with the eye. He can't play with blurry vision. He stopped using the tinted visor. The Rangers and Staal aren't giving up much info. The tinted visor was to cut down on the glare from the lights. The eye is dialated. The lights bother his eye. Its going to be 2 months this week since Dorsett took the hit from Andrew Alberts. The CT scan must have showed the injury hasn't fully healed. Who knows what's wrong with Clowe and Boyle? The latter got hurt 2 weeks ago tomorrow. Knee sprain. Knee injury. Looked like a knee. That's not a short term injury. Same thing with Clowe. What's up with him? The Rangers aren't going to say. Knee. Ankle. Concussion.

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread(top of this page) that he was having a MRI today, which is why I brought it up. Agreed on the last part, although having him miss game 1 wouldn't be the end of the world, giving him a chance to practice with his line is always a plus.

That should be good news. Tinted visor was to help reduce the irritation he received from light. No tinted visor should mean he's no longer sensitive to light - improvement. Enough improvement to make a dramatic game 1 appearance, I don't know. But improvement nonetheless.

Where is this information coming from?

regarding Clowe, no one is saying it, but he took a serious elbow to the dome much in the same way that James Neal did.

He may THINK his leg hurts....but that could be the elbow talking

There is a pic of Staal in the Rangers last practice wearing a normal visor and not a tinted visor. He's also in a regular jersey. He's been cleared to play by doctors for weeks now. It's all about how comfortable he is seeing with less than 100% vision. A few weeks ago it was reported he wasn't close. The change from tinted to regular means improvements, at the very least. He's on the right track.

It was widely reported that Dorset would get a CT scan at the end of last week to see if his collar bone had healed. If that's the case and he's wearing a non-contact jersey today, the CT scan must have showed he wasn't ready yet.

As for Boyle and Clowe its all speculation at this point. No one knows. Leg injuries are fickle things. Could be a tweak, could be a tear. The hit on Boyle looked innocent but so did the hit on Russell Westbrook. Could be a wide range of injuries. I've never seen something like a meniscus tear from a hit in the NHL, and ACL injuries are rare (although Frolov will disagree), but then again i'd never think i'd see the day where someone's achilles tendon would be severed on ice.

From what i've read, Clowe's injury (if lower body) happened without contact. Non contact injuries tend to be worse. Tortorella's comments are promising though, imply that the injury is not as serious as can be. Torts has given no such statements on Boyle and furthermore Boyle off the ice for the last 2-3 weeks is not a good sign at all. Again, purely speculation. Can't be certain on either.

A lot of speculation in here right now?

Absolutely. We're assuming that the CT scan on Dorsett actually happened AND has been analyzed. We're assuming that Staal's vision is still off, but we have no word. We're assuming that Clowe being out of practice is about more than resting an injury that can be played through.

The only speculation that I think is 100% right on is that on Boyle, who hasn't skated in so long that he's a definite no for Thursday.
