Damn, what happened to Clowe? I've missed games to finals... was it something noticeable in a game, or they just announced that during downtime and won't give anything definitive?

NJ is gonna be a pain to play against I bet. Wouldn't have minded having his toughness around for that, but I suppose Newbury can handle that aspect of it. Would be fun having Dorse in too =/

The post this morning stated that Clowe had a lower body injury.

Looked to me like he took an elbow to the noggin, but any reaction was delayed before going to the bench as he was still battling for the puck.

Think the lower body issue may be legit.

Should bring up Haley too. No point dicking around with Gilroy as a forward again. Nothing against Matt personally but I wish he played for some other team.

I think Haley would be a nice addition to the NJ game . I would not mind seeing the Undertaker either...what can it hurt ??? 1 game sneak preview LOL...could be fun .

No. We should not take risks. We have a chance to clinch no. 6 and play Washington, in the process avoiding Pittsburgh in the 1st round. This is no time for experimenting. We can try that in the warm-up games next season.

what are the odds that its a minor injury?

Slim. He needed Rmmer and two teammates to get to the locker room and looked as though he'd collapse any second... I hope and pray it's not the case (and doubt it) but I don't know of any injury where a guy is fine, with no reaction at first, and then wilts like that, except a traumatic brain injury. He wasn't hit hard enough (at least I don't think) to have been bleeding significantly on the brain.

That said, it wasn't lower-body. It was most likely a concussion that he, for some reason, to which he had a late reaction.

Totally agree with you. Tomorrow's game is definitely not a throw away game. Especially, if the islanders beat the sabres tonight. Can't go out and lay and egg against the Debbies tomorrow.

so anyone banged up likely sits on Saturday. Newbury up likely for Clowe

any chance Staal , Boyle , Dorsett are ready for game 1?

its not but they are in the playoffs so I would reast Hank for sure since he's played a ton. Anyone banged up should sit. It's just the smart thing to do

Tough call for Torts. I'd absolutely prefer to play Washington or Boston, but its a moot point if Hank or McDonagh blow out a knee tomorrow.

There's no way Torts rests them, IMO, unless they are banged up. He didn't rest them last year when the #1 seed was locked up.

I think Marty should play tomorrow... On the other hand, Hank wouldn't have a game for the whole week.
Anyhow, Staal better get healthy soon, we need him against better teams.

I was watching the video. I think it might be a pulled hammy or tweaked knee. They said right leg injury. I feel like he really didn't even get hit in the head by the elbow.

Taken from the TSN video and the quality is terrible. I think it looks like he hit the elbow pretty hard. The white in front of Clowe's face is an elbow.

Forgive me for asking, because I havent had the time to look around - Why would he rest for a week?

So we know for sure that game 1 of the first round starts on Thursday? Why couldnt it start Tuesday?

I guess you are right

of course it's a leg injury. he had to be helped off the ice and did not put any weight on one leg. that might have been precautionary so I'm guessing he is out 2 weeks or less.
