Brian Boyle ‏@BriBrows22 16h Great win last night! Sleeping better now. Had allergic reaction last week. Thanks for the concern, though!

Ladies and gents, let's please try to keep speculative bickering to a minimum and focus on things we actually know. :)

When you are used to see your hero's go out there with broken wrists or broken ribs (its impossible to understand how you could play with a broken rib if you yourself have had like just a deep sore in the rib area), we as fans if nothing else have to adjust to it I guess.

Yes, we do, and just because we can look back with fond nostalgia on the "good old days" doesn't mean those days were actually good. People did a lot of stupid **** that probably hurt their team more than helped, ****ed up their own health, and perpetuated a culture of hiding injuries that is still having to be dealt with, especially when it comes to concussions.

It's a change for the better, and Staal will help this team more by getting healthy and playing well than trying to play through a recovery and hurting the team because he can't play the way they need him to

What is this belief based on?

I found this:

Adam Rotter ‏@AdamRotter

Though it does show him standing, rather than skating.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that staal makes a surprise appearance and plays tuesday against the flyers .

So looks like we're gonna have Staal and Dorsett going into the playoffs? Because that would certainly be a nice boost to both the offensive and defensive corps.

Anything on Sauer coming back next season?

Nope. Sadly it is more likely that he never comes back at this point. That said, regardless of whether he ever plays hockey again, I hope his health can improve so that his overall quality of life is as close to normal as possible.

Man that is too sad. I always find it so weird how different brain injuries are for different people. Look at the Sauer hit, now, by no means was it a light hit but I've seen worse ones. Also, Sauer never lost consciousness and basically left the ice on his own accord. You would never suspect a career ending injury. Yet I watched Prucha and Anisimov get their clocks absolutely cleaned 4 times a game and they were fine. Or for example the 2nd Crosby concussion, it looked like absolutely nothing and he was out for a lonnnng time. Brain injuries are so scary, I really wish the best for Michael Sauer and his future. I can't imagine a much more debilitating injury.

Crosby wasn't a concussion. It was a broken vertebrae.

Either way he missed all that time with "concussion like symptoms". They didn't discover any vertabrae injury until long after the incident(s).

Never the less, that doesn't really have anything to do with the point I was making.

Would you guys feel comfortable with throwing a half-blinded Staal to the wolves in the playoffs playing 25 mins a night? I'm not doctor, but if he is having depth perception troubles, things could get real ugly. I'm not even talking giveaways, mostly concerned about rushing back for icings and getting plastered for missing the puck.
