It's been almost 5 weeks since Arvidsson was expected to "maybe miss 1 game", lol

I wonder if they are currently trying to put the math and the story together to see if they can get him on LTIR until the end of the season. Would open an absurd amount of deadline cap space, enough for all of our needs and then some.

Oilersnation reporting that Bob Stauffer is saying Kane won't return until March at the absolute earliest. I guess that all but confirms that they are going to play the Vegas-LTIR-game with Kane, which bodes well for our ability to add at the trade deadline.

How match fit would he be for playoffs after not playing an entire season? I guess that's a pretty good strategy regardless.

I was wondering if they postponed his surgery to set this up. They said they took some months to find the right doctor, which sounds dubious to me.

With a player's career on the line I don't find it dubious at all. He had a ton of work done and if any of those hernias don't heal properly he'll continue to have issues with them with the style of game that he plays.

Yeah, every team that has done this has done it on purpose, I have no doubts at all about this. They are gaming the system, full stop.

As far as fitness and game speed though, yeah, that is certainly the risk. The player likely isn't at full speed until the 2nd round (if the team gets through to the 2nd round that is). So you have to hope the rest of the team is strong enough to win without the "injured" player

He 100% needed the surgery, nobody is doubting that. Its the timing that is obviously contrived.

Meh, I'll take him at his word. Hopefully it works out for us that we can add a ton of cap at the deadline and he returns healthy for the playoffs, time will tell.
