Injury Report: Injured Players Thread (3/6: Staal Out Indefinitely; Not Career Threatening)

Just a thought...with the health of 3 d-men being iffy, wouldn't it be wise to dress a d-man as a forward for insurance?

Jesus Christ, Torts sits Kreider and sends down Thomas for Bickel and Mashinter....more jam, more grit, more sandpaper!
Let the kids play Tortellini! How are we supposed to get out of a funk with Powe and Boyle on the third line? Halpern, Bickel, Mashinter on the fourth? Oh boy.

I agree let Kreider and Thomas play, this maybe another shutout

Disagree. Mashinter has looked good on the 4th line. Why remove him? The Rangers defense is BEYOND banged up with MDZ and Girardi hurting and Staal recovering from the flu.

On top of that, the Jets play a VERY physical game. Bickel is there for insurance in both cases.

Pleeeeeeease have Nash and McDonaugh in the lineup 2nite. It would make a world of difference

Hagelin, Stepan, Nash
Gaborik, Richards, Callahan
Pyatt, Boyle, Miller
Powe, Halpern,Mashinter
Asahm hurt
Kreider should go down when all the bodies are healthy, or Miller

Bickel and Mashinter will play 4 minutes each...need a 4th line that take some minutes from the top 2 lines

I agree that we need toughness in the lineup and with Asham out, Mash definitely must play. However, not to open old wounds by at this point why would Boyle play instead of Kreider. The kid has done some good things the last few games; he's drawing penalties while BB is taking them. And although Boyle is willing to hit, he doesn't provide any toughness.

Because Torts worries more about grinding than scoring goals

IMO, and this is not an exact science, but I think they want him for his PK and face-offs.

He has been average at best at both of those things and with Halp taking a bigger role and Powe back we have enough in those areas with or without BB. Not enough of a reason to bench CK when we are starved for any offensive spark.

Again, Kreider has 2 points. What spark? People are praising Kreider for the offense he brings. What offense?

I AM PUUUUUUUUUMMMPPPEDDD to hear Nash is back on the ice

BUT

Sad to see Mcdonagh is still out. I'm confident that Stralman can fill in for now but the 3rd D paring of Eminger/Gilroy makes me nervous.

Staal is not skating today. He played with the flu on Saturday. The Rangers site had an interview(video) with Staal. He is still getting over the flu. Skated hard yesterday. They have a game tonight. The skate today is an optional.

I wonder, even if he's healthy, if Nash will play. He hasn't had a practice in over a week now right?

McDonagh still being out is frustrating

Just because he isn't skating doesn't mean he isn't playing though. It's an optional and he plays a TON of minutes when he does play.

You mean McDonagh? Maybe, but you'd assume that he'd be back on the ice after taking two days off if he was healthy

Stick a smelling salt in Nash's nose and get him out there tonight.

This is funny. How about you stop projecting what Kreider's ceiling is, and focus more on what hes actually been - which is timid and bad. No need to make that move for an offensive spark that doesnt currently exist.
