I think Rupp was ready to go. He wasn't doing much of anything.

But, can no-one else step up? Its infuriating that ,this whole season it seems, our players have been getting cheap shotted and no-one is doing anything about it.

Does this team completely lack chemistry? No-one seems to care about anyone on this team.

The game when Rupp/Kopecky incident is what should have happened after that hit Mcdonagh.

Truly sad that no one on our team risks a match penalty, or something more severe in order to send a message. Sometimes in hockey, things like that have to be done.

this def is not a clean hit, but i don't think it's going to get a suspension. this is very clearly a player in a vulnerable position. this is very clearly boarding. this is pretty clearly a hit to the head. the only thing i'll give him is that he "MAY" have left his feet mid-hit as opposed to a few seconds before it.

mcdonagh is cutting to the left with the puck. this is not a player who has any way of defending himself. the onus is on pacioretti coming in NOT to hit this player-- or at least not to get the head.

in pacioretti's defense, mcdonagh does cut last second, but there's zero doubt that pacioretti made a conscious decision to go after mcdonagh-- whether to board him or not, he knew who he was hitting.

by all logical reasoning this SHOULD be a suspension. checked the guys numbers, retaliated to a hit, boarded a defenseless player, resulted in an injury, 'may have' targeted the head, 'may have' left his feet. this is a clear violation of rule 43. the others are just extra

i like montreal. i like pacioretti, couldn't stand the chara hit and that it didn't get a suspension. i did not like this hit, and i want to see him suspended. i don't think he will be as they'll focus on the leaving feet aspect and i don't think it's conclusive enough

also: a hit from behind into the boards that draws blood is a 5 minute major any way you cut it far as i'm concerned. think the refs goofed

I was thinking the same thing as others here....why the **** was callahan and girardi out there. I think Staal was out there too but i'm trying to block out tonight's game.

I have always been a supporter of Tortorella but this has gotten pretty bad. Poor system that has no creativity for offense, a poor poor PP system which stems from the former, constant changing of the lines so you never see chemistry develop, benches the wrong people hard on the young but soft on the veterans, and tonight's decision to put those guys on the ice when the game was over was just stupid. You know who's shooting the puck on the point. It's the same situation when guys like Chara and Weber are out there.

You can talk all you want about pride and effort, but you have to be smart too. The game was over, live to fight another day. But if there's no girardi on top of mcdonagh and del zotto banged up, there won't be another day.

I really don't think McDonagh suffered a concussion on that hit. I am hoping he was kept out for precautionary reasons. It's not like the old days where you would be rushed back out there.

Hoping it was just a bad cut...

A whole thread on injures, this bites. Not to mention we are talking about Nash, McDonagh, and Girardi. Hell, even losing Powe hurt.

The thing that gets me is what are the chances we lose both McD and Girardi the same night? astronomical. They always did everything together.

they need Nash and DZ to play Tuesday for team confidence........then good news on McD( he seemed ok did he not?.............then Girardi not broken please.......even Powe getting back would help

MY buddy who is FDNY responded to a track fire at Penn Station and ran into Al Trautwig. Word on is Girardi is broken ankle. 4-6 weeks. Take it for what its worth...but if true. Yikes

I gotta say...The Rangers have been very fortunate the last few seasons to avoid serious injuries to key players. This year does not look so forgiving.

Wtf just happened, seriously.

The Rangers should forfeit the game the next time they play in Montreal. I've never seen such craziness occur for one team in one building. House of Horrors, Jesus Christ. When Girardi was getting carried off everything went numb.

I can't remember a team going from such a high after beating the Caps in game 7 to getting beaten by the ****ing Devils of all teams, a lockout, crappy start and now all of these injuries. What the hell did we do to deserve this? Omg is it bad.

Nash's phantom 'undisclosed' injury and IR sentencing is concussion related issue imo, but team won't admit because they don't want media/fanbase to panic/pressure changes. Staal 2.0.

I have to say, if we miss all these players on Tuesday, we are the worst team in the NHL.

It's embarrassing when no one stands up for each other. It's almost scary to a point. What does McD have to think when the guys who are supposed to take the ice with him and go into battle with and he sees them turning the other cheek when he gets boarded and injured? It could make you question how close the team really is. What happened when that guy ran Biron? Stralman gave him a little cross check and that's it. I'm happy to have Powe over Rupp, but Rupp wouldn't stand for that nonsense. Asham as well.

Team is super soft and they try to play a hard-nosed style. Just a recipe for disaster.

If the Rangers want to be successful they are going to have to change their approach. This is no longer a team that can play a hard-nosed style. Stepan, Hagelin, Richards, Gaborik, Nash, Miller, Kreider are talented forwards who do not excel in a grinding system. You need players like Callahan, Pyatt, Asham, Halpern, Mashinter to be successful but you can't build 4 lines with players like that.

Even on defense, Staal, McD, MDZ and Stralman are players who will benefit with an open offense. Of course you need a guy like Girardi who can hold down the fort in the back but it does you no good when you handcuff all your Dmen to just block shots.

New coach, new system, new team = success.

Officially on the Fire Torts bandwagon.
