Just wanted to give my thoughts on the game as well, I watched it on the Preds website:

I'm pretty much echoing what everyone else here has said:

- Farrance was the man of the match, he was all over the place and created numerous dangerous chances. He takes a lot of risks, and at pro level I think he needs to reel it in a little at times.

- Kondelik & Fontaine surprised me, they were both very good. Kondelik was a dangerous net front presence, physical and strong on the puck.

- Reid & Matier surprised me at defense, they both had solid games. Pretty much every defenseman on the Gold team had a solid game.

- Expected more from Tomasino & Afanasyev. Neither stood out to me all that much. L'Heureux was off.

- Were Evangelista and Campbell even playing?
Campbell was there, but really had a weak game.

Evangelista didn't skate.

Any chance Kondelik gets an ELC and forgoes his last year of college? With his size is he better off in the AHL or does NCAA still have value for him?

I mean, I'm not watching him play... but... just guesstimating from the armchair... I would say the thing maybe he needs to work on most is just skills/offense, we know he's big and can play in traffic, protect the puck, so... maybe... going back to UConn for his last year and trying to put up bigger numbers, shoot a little more, may help him most? :dunno:

He may be valuable as it is, just as a big bottom line guy. But if he did add some extra offense to the equation and slid up the projections lineup a little further, that would make him all the more valuable. Whereas if he comes into Milwaukee, it almost sets him back on his heels a bit again, trying not to make mistakes and just keeping up with the bigger/faster crowd? :dunno:

One nice thing for him is that he's slated to graduate at 22. So he's not like one of these guys coming out of the NCAA at 24 or 25. I think that makes it all the more attractive for him to just play out his senior year and get his degree.

I would tend to agree with you but didn't know if there were any other opinions out there that have maybe seen more of him.

I think Kondelik is interesting as a prospect. He is a pure distributor offensively and is pretty average defensively. I think he's in a bit of tweener spot where he's not a good fit as a bottom 6 center, and probably isn't offensive enough to be a top 6 center. He will need to improve his game defensively to fit the bottom 6 which is the more likely of the options, or he will need to really start becoming a better facilitator to get a top 6 role. His frame would absolutely translate well and allow him to be a nice penalty killing, defensively responsible bottom 6 center that could utilize his vision on the power play while playing deep in the zone. He has almost no threat to score unless he passes the puck into the net, so he would be misused unless he is parked in front of the net jamming in rebounds or playing behind it distributing. He has been very consistent in tallying assists since his start at UConn. I thought we might have a Jumbo Joe Lite on our hands after his freshman year, and maybe he will continue to develop but I would suspect he is depth guy/AHL player as the most likely answer. I really liked his highlights/game early on, and found myself tracking him as a guy I thought had more NHL upside than our system/fan scouts seemed to be crediting him.

...I'll add. He uses his body well for puck battles on the board, but he doesn't really seem "twitchy" and was losing some puck battles to smaller guys who were out working him with stick positioning. Every player will have downsides, so don't want it to sound like I didn't like his game. I actually really enjoyed watching him play and thought he utilized his size really well. He comically had Harper matched on him when he was parked in front of the net on his goal. Harper was literally cross checking his ass trying to move him while Kondelik scored with ease on a deflection that fell at his feet.

remember watching him at BU when Fabbro and Farrance played there. probably not much NHL upside there but a hard-nosed player with some skill

So how is Milwaukee looking now...

Afanaseyev - Pitlick or Glass - Tomasino (maybe)
Richard - Novak - Luff
Mismash - Schneider - McCarron
Labate - Carpenter - Smith
Harper/Solow/McLain/???

Farrance - Tennyson
Davies - Allard
Del Gaizo - Donovan
Healey/McLaughlin/???

Ingram
Cooley/Vomacka

Maybe switch Healey and Donovan. I think that Matt Donovan at 31 years old is almost at the end. He could end up in Florida with the Everblades.

There's some chatter in Finland that Pärssinen will be at the Preds Training Camp..

Also, is Evangelista playing in London or Milwaukee?

London. Even if he was ready to play in the AHL (last year says he was not) he didn't meet the required games threshold. After missing most of the year he needs to go to London in a starring role instead of being a depth player in Milwaukee. And the rules align with his development needs, fortunately.

I thought that was the plan all along. It's just the developmental camp he missed due to covid restrictions?
Well, he signed a contract with us, right? I would think therefore, despite that the Liiga has already started, his first priority is to get over here. Then we'll loan him back, of course. But I wouldn't just sign him and then pass on bringing him to camp. It'll be good to get eyes-on here in our environment. :dunno:

The thing is, in order to send him down, we need to offer him to his Liiga team first and they will gladly take him back. He said himself that he will join the camp (except for developmental camp due to covid restrictions) and his aim is to stick with Preds. I'd love to see him get his 9 games at the beginning of the season.

Well, I guess anybody who just shoots out the lights and earns games on our big team is something to wish for.

I don't think "9 games" comes into play for Parssinen, though. He has turned 20, so he burns a year no matter what.

I think it is more of a pre-acclimatization kinda thing. Get him here to see how things run here, meet the staff, a bit of an introduction to what the NHL environment looks like in Nashville, etc. Then he goes home and kills the Liiga. Then he comes back to us at the end of his year, since they always end sooner than us. And then he's with us forever after.

Oh right, didn't realize his contract wasn't eligible for slide.

anyone have any clue where Adam Vingan is ??
lack of pre season coverage has been appalling . the guy is a total bum
He doesn't know anything about hockey that some analytics site doesn't tell him so he's got nothing. I don't think he's written an article that wasn't about trading players since February.
