Barrie needs a new contract as well. If he keeps putting up points, who knows what he'll get. But you also have to keep in mind the Avs haven't spent to the limit yet. Just because Kroenke will spend more, doesn't mean he'll get right up against the limit immediately.

He will get a bridge deal like McGinn's, so something around 1.75. That will take him to 2016. That year we will have Barrie due for a big raise, and EJ, Tanguay, and PAP due for free agency.

Isn't it mostly two Buffalo posters who are extreme in their views because they not only overrate Buffalo prospects but at the same time underrate players on other teams? I wouldn't judge the entire fan base from the few lunatics they have.

HF boards is so ridiculous when it comes to people trying to make trade offers. Prospects are always so very over-rated. And people always make awful comments that show they know nothing beyond their own team.

According to HF, PAP a 30 year old, top 6 winger, capable of 50-60pts, on a team friendly deal for 2 more years has negative value. :shakehead

Also Rasmus Ristolainen is guaranteed to be a Norris caliber dman even though he has only played like 25 games.

Yeah, it's pretty dumb. According to HF the Avs only possible trade involves someone like Duchene. And it's accompanied with the tag line, "if you want X, it's going to cost you". The Canucks fans are really bad about this.

We have other contracts that will end soon as well: Hunwick, Sarich, Wilson, Guenin, Mitchell and Giguere. Core players stay and get paid, support cast gets turned over to younger players to keep the overall salary structure in line with the Cap. As the Avs hit their prime and compete deep into the playoffs every year KSE will be printing money, just as they did in our first glory years.

If there are some Buffalo fans losing their minds, can you blame them?

They had one owner head to jail, another came in, put a horned slug on the jersey and let the team's two best players at the time walk for nothing. The next owner came in and told the GM to spend the team back into contention, which made the problem worse. The GM was allowed to trade the team's best player and then he was fired. Then they brought back a beloved prodigal son to helm the franchise who then went all prodigal again after taking forever to hire a guy he apparently thought was a figurehead, when it turned out HE was the figurehead.

All this, and they have to watch John Scott try and play hockey every night.

You'd be crazy too.

[MOD] is by far the worst, but pretty much all of them have unrealistic expectation from their kids, I mean in the Grigensons thread majority of them wouldn't trade Grigensons and Myers for Duchene.

Don't forget they have Sacco now too.

Ever fanbase is guilty of overrating their players and prospects(we are too, and many of us are terrible) but Buffalo fans seem to be under the impression that all of their prospects will reach their potential guaranteed. There was a thread not so long ago where Myers, Zadorov and Ristolainen were all called future #1 defensmen, Pysyk a future #2 top pairing defensman, and McNabb and McCabe both top 4 defensman. There was no margin for any of them busting or being disappointments. Many posters were adamant that they would all become what they projected. Obviously one poster does not make an entire fanbase, but there were at least 4 or 5 Sabres fans who completely agreed with this evaluation of these prospects and I only saw two who took exception with it.

I think they'll be awfully disappointed. If you go a few years and look at prospects we thought would turn out but never did it's a large list. Not all prospects turn out and some of theirs invariably will not.

Man, just when you think Buffalo's finally turning the page and showing they may have the right direction from the front office, Lafontaine quits/gets fired, and Ted Nolan seems like he knows something everyone else doesn't, and doesn't seem very happy with what happened to his friend that was brought in to turn everything around. Yeesh.

Canucks AGM said he believes in the Canucks' core and thinks this year is but an anomaly and not the norm(or the future norm).

I hope he's serious

Well, they're not gonna admit they're pulling the plug until they actually do it. I'm guessing if Kesler gets flipped, it'll be in the offseason, and Luongo will get a compliance buyout around that time as well.

I honestly think they will keep him until his contract expires. Seemingly just to screw with him.
I don't know what he did to piss Vancouver off but man alive they will deal anyone before him.

Bobby Lu isn't getting bought out. There are a lot of teams that would love to have him.

The recapture penalty on his contract is huge. And they would've traded him last year if it were that easy. Part of the problem is that Luongo is only willing to waive his NMC for a few select teams, and at least one of those teams demanded Vancouver eat salary on the deal.

I'm certainly no psychic, but I'm willing to bet he will be a compliance buyout this summer. I hope he heads to Brooklyn afterwards.

Anyone see that Tor thread on the main board?

Tor
Staz

Avs
Gardiner
Kulemin
2014 1st
Peter Holland or 2015 3rd

I would take that.

ROR - Duchene - PAP
Landy - Mack - Tangs
McGinn - Talbot - Kulemin

Hejda/Gardiner - Ej
Hejda/Gardiner - Barrie

Depending on how chemistry works... Foote could work with Gardiner on his defensive game.

I'd prefer to sign Stastny but if that cant be done I would absolutely make this deal.

That thread is going to go downhill...fast.

If the Avs decided to move on from Stastny, yes that's a deal that I would assume that most Avs fans would take, but also one I don't expect the Leafs to even offer to begin with.

Same way I feel. I'd rather have Stastny if he can be signed to a somewhat reasonable contract but if not, I'd make that deal.

Can we flip Gardiner to the Panthers for Kulikov though? :D

I like your thinking! :handclap:

And then Kulikov for someone else?

I remember playing like NHL 07 and whenever you made a trade offer for a guy who was like 1 overall higher they would usually accept. I used to take every low rated player and trade for someone better, then again, and again until I had a team full of all high 80's and 90's lol

I did this once then realised I ruined the game when all of the best players were on the wrong team.
