Somewhere on Uranus
I've watched the Sabres since the early 70's. I was born 2 months after the team played it's first ever game. I was 5, in the Aud, 2 rows up with my mom and dad at the Fog Game in the 75 finals. I've been a die Hard fan my entire life. No reason to list the calamities the organization has endured during my fan tenure, they're now legendary with any Sabres fan, well, at least those that are left.

The owner Terry Pegula, ya, sell the team, it's time.

Did you guys celebrate when he bought the team from Tom Golisano, Larry Quinn, and Dan DiPofi?

It hard to imagine now but as of that year long lockout in 04/05, the Sabres had the 4th highest winning percentage all time in the entire league. I may be slightly off because I'm going by memory but they were high on the list.

But yeah, no cups to show for that so it was painful regardless. The last 15 years have been really bad though. No cups and just terrible regular seasons to go with it.

The biggest problem Pegula is just a cheap loser. If ownership doesn't change Sabres will be trailing just right behind a wild card spot forever

Isn't he spending to the Cap or close to it?

5 mil in space this year, it was 10+ last year when we barely missed the playoffs and coulda used a dman. No, he’s not spending to the cap.

Pretty sure he just wants to sell once values are up a bit- meanwhile he’s running the franchise into the ground, killing its value, but the rich do as they like.

He bought the team for 190 million.

It’s now valued at over 1 billion despite 14 years of failure under his watch.

The f*** is he waiting for?

10M left sitting last season is an issue. Oilers have about 4M right now, but we expect that to be fully used up at the TDL. Yeh sounds like he's being cheap. That sucks.

Nah. Went 2 Point/GM last year in the WHL. That's double Golden Boy Minten's production.

The Condors are an offensive black hole this year, nearly dead last in offence. Savoie's got nothing to work with down there.

He might have nothing to work with but when is that going to stop being an excuse for him?

He couldn't elevate the Ice when he was there. He was constantly outplayed by his teammates on Moose Jaw to the point where Calvert was clearly a better centre option, Kovacevic carried that line through the playoffs.

He's a productive player but he isn't an effective player. He's not elusive, he's not slippery, he doesn't win battles, he's not strong, he's not winning races, he relies on wingers to create possession for him. He's fantastic at interrupting neutral zone plays but is too weak to be effective as a defensive centre in his own zone.

He's always going to be a great PP player but if he doesn't offer anything else, he's always going to be a 5 on 5 liability.

When we have more than 20 games to see what he can in the AHL on a team that isn't an offensive black hole? At the end of the day, 2pts/game is still 2pts/game just last year. Maybe you don't personally believe in the player, but in no world does it make sense to call him busted.

I see him as a complementary winger, with some potential to be an elite one if it all works out. Will he drive play in a Center role? I don't see it. But that might not be an issue on one of McDrai's wings. If he tops out as an Eberle with some cost control for a few seasons, not the worst result.

Yea most likely true.

Sabres have a lot of prospects and picks but dont really make many trades or many UFA signings any more

Buffalo used to be a pretty big UFA market in getting big/good names to come like Erhoff and Leino in early 2010s or even before that in Spacek,

Savoies busting for a 9th OA.

He cant produce at the AHL level in his D+3 year and is a hobbit sized of a player.

He has limited likelyhood of being a strong NHL player. That isnt b/c he is an Oiler. The trade at the time looked like a fleece from the Oilers, but Savoie has not progressed at all.

He should be an everyday NHLer by now. Him struggling is his own issues. He ismt a projectable NHl player

Leafs have their own Savoie in Nick Robertson who dominated the OHL in his D+1, has been great in the AHL level but sucks/cant produce at the NHL level.
How many 2022 drafted players are playing in the NHL everyday? I dont think Savoie is good but the bolded isn’t true.

In case someone, somehow doesn’t know…

Pegula has started 14 seasons as the owner of the Sabres. They have missed the playoffs 13 years and are one point out of last place in the conference in year 14.

They have never made the playoffs in a year he owned the team when it started. And one of those years they took 24 teams.

At this point you have to wonder if a certain culture/mentality/status quo has infected the organization and seeps its way down as new players get on the team and so on and so on
They need a Tortorella/Lamiorello type combo to reset the organizational culture there. That’s the only way other than Pegula selling the team
