I'll always respect him.

As bad as he's been this season, he was the ONLY GOALIE IN 20 YEARS to get us past a f***ing round.

The only goalie NOT TO CHOKE in an elimination game. For that, he has my respect.

Hope he finds his game, until then, salute.

People who were raised in privilege don't realize how many large problems money solves right away

Money obviously doesn't solve all problems, but it sure as hell helps
Money can solve 80% of your problems

Anyways, back to topic in hand. Wish Sammy all the best. It's life. Money or no money, I hope he can turn around career.

Just couldn't put it together in Washington, now Toronto

Money makes life easier, would never argue that, and it can take away a lot of problems, but it doesn't make you happy or solve all your problems.

All I was saying.

For example, Samsanov can not buy his way out of this issue, and when a majority of life is focused on one goal and it is not being achieved and potentially never will, I am sure that takes a toll mentally.

I don't think 99% of what the Western World experiences is a traumatic experience...

That doesn't mean the mental health issues people have are irrelevant.
I never said it was irrevelant
I just said I didn’t feel for him much in his situation that’s all. I’ve played high end level sports, I get the mental issues but everyone acting like he’s gone through something serious that has affected his play
He’s played bad and hasn’t dealt with it well…ok it’s a sport
I’m allowed an opinion I hoped

This is the guys job
He gets fired he still lives a very good life, not comfortable but very good life
if You guys want to feel for him because of this experience that’s fine
Your opinion

Assuming he clears waivers... does he get sent to the Growlers? The Growlers sent a goalie to the Marlies but that could be a temporary move to ensure the Marlies have enough goalies for the next game.

I expect another team will pick him up and frankly, I hope they can salvage his career.

He was great for us last year, but his head is just not right this year and only a change of scenery has a chance to fix it.
Are you serious or just kidding.

There is no way any GM is claiming him.

People bring up mental health issues now so easily. As if everything is a mental health issue. This is the business of performance. If you are not doing well, you get cut.

I feel bad it didnt' pan out, but I don't feel sorry for him. He'll still get a job. There are worse goalies in AHL and KHL making a living comfortably. Maybe he can even be a back in NHL next year

Heck maybe he can even turn it around in NHL this year, who knows. But those options are available to him. People here acting like we sent him to the gallows to hang

I'm assuming he stays up with the Leafs and gets a month or more off to work only with coaches and get extra work in practice.

I don't think he gets sent down.

Also might be wrong, but I think we'd need to waive Lagesson/Timmins/Benoit or send down Holmberg in this scenario.

I think Sammy has a decent shot of being claimed also. Lots of teams are desperate for goaltending and he's a UFA at seasons end. It's a low risk move with no downside other than cap space.

Timmins has outlived his welcome. It's time to move away from him as well

I think it's possible. There's a lot of teams with goaltending problems.

Fixing Samsonov would be a massive win.
I honestly wish Sammy the best, that he gets himself straight and back on the road to success. If another team claims him that is the best case scenario for Toronto.

The $3.6M cap space added would be great.

If Samsonov is not sent down, then they need to send someone down to be cap compliant.

Over/Under on Dubas claiming him?

J/k.

Hoping Samsonov finds his peace, be it on the ice or stepping away from it.

There are more important things in life, and life is too short to be spent unhappy. I hope he finds his happiness.

Cheers

Money obviously doesn't solve all problems, but it sure as hell helps

I remember when I was in school I didn't have money to even eat and had to skip meals while working full time and going to school full time.

"lucky sperm" is a real thing, being born and raised in "privilege" they don't understand how hard life can be for middle/lower-middle class people.

Heck I went on to do higher education, got a decent job and I still find it hard to do groceries when inflation. There are other problems that many are running into today like rent, medical bills, debt payments, childcare, etc...

Playing in NHL is a privilege not a right. 8 billion people on the planet how many get to live out their dreams and make millions?

So yea... unless someone has seriously health issue (mental or physical) or family issues I don't really feel much for "hockey players". I sympathize with their situation but I mean common.... when compared to real life scenarios for most for the people on the planet its just peanuts man.
