Poor World Championships lately, we didnt qualify for Olympics as well..
But we got new coach and he is great for us - Bob Hartley

Hanifin got puck in the face, but he is back in game vs Latvia

Young Noah needs a few scars on his "pretty boy" face. It will give him more credibility in our trade talks with "traditional market" teams.

I think there's a good chance that Duchene is, I won't use the phrase "washed up," but he's got an awful lot of mileage on him for his age. And right now, at 26, he should be at his peak or very very close to it, but he's just not. He has the look of a guy whose career could just tail off into relative mediocrity.

I'm not there. He had 30 goals a season ago and the times I've seen him this year, he still seems to have his wheels. I don't think it's a coincidence that Duchene (18Goals), MacKinnon (16Goals), and Landeskog (18 goals) were all down in terms of goal scoring. They were on a bad team that struggled to score, had no depth, were playing most of the season with an AHL caliber defense (except for Barrie), and had bad goaltending. Add to it the constant rumors about being traded (which are still present in Duchene's case) and I can see why he/they struggled. I won't be surprised to see a bounce-back season for him next season, especially if he is moved to another team.

Bleed has probably seen him more than the rest of us so would be interested in his take.

Yeah, I'd still take Duchene in a heart beat. I think he'll bounce back no problem next year. And if you get him in a non Hanifin deal, at least his contract would be an upside if he actually did play as poorly the next two years, he's gone and not an albatross. But given the right situation, I do think he'll be the player he was.

I listened to an interview Dreger did with him. You can tell the whole trade stuff is weighing on him and you can tell he started putting even more pressure on himself.

I get the arguments about everything going on around him and certainly players have come back from worse. I just get the feeling he'll never again be that 70-point player. Maybe a 55-60 guy, which is still good, but not the guy suited to being the face of your team.

Also, he's played an awful lot at wing the last couple seasons, which tells me they're either A) trying to help him in terms of his confidence, or B) they think he's not that effective at center anymore.

If I'm a team trying to make a trade for him, I'm A) not doing it without a relatively substantial "damaged goods" discount, and B) doing it with the understanding that he may just be a winger at this point in his career, for the long term.

I just can't imagine that he's the best option at this point. Feels like we keep talking about him just because we've been talking about him.

How much wing did he play? I know he's definitely played some time there, but he took over 1000 face-offs this year (2nd only to MacKinnon) and his most common line-mates on the season at ES were Matt Nieto and Gabriel Landeskog who are both wingers.

I really do think he'd be a good option, but not if it costs something like Hanifin. If we can get him on a lesser deal, I think he'd do well under Peters, but I've never been of the opinion that we should deal away Hanifin (or Faulk) for him.

Maybe if we can swing a picks only deal. Maybe. Like a first and a third or something.

At this point, I'm not sure I want to give up a first for the guy. While not an immediate impact player, the kid we get at #12 will still be a talent and I'm not sure I want to throw that in the toilet for a guy playing like Duchene for two years. I'd rather trade Fleury and a 2nd for one year of Evander Kane that the first for Duchene.

But thanks to God the GM is Ron Francis

We are the same fans that fought with fans on HFboards that Skinner wasn't washed up, when he only put up 18 goals & 31 pts in 77 games a few seasons ago. Fast forward a few years Skinner is better than ever.

Duchene can easily rebound like Skinner, he was just on a god awful team this season where everyone struggled mightily.

Meh. I'd rather pay $3000 for a car that runs for a year if I need a car then $1000 for a car that may never run right again.

I'm not sure I understand your rationale MinjaBen.

Kane's last 4 seasons:
63GP - 41 points
37GP - 22 points
65GP - 35 points
70GP - 43 points

Duchene's last 4 seasons:
71GP - 70 points
82GP - 55 points
76GP - 59 points
77GP - 41 points
