i wonder if its a lot harder to score goals then to stop them. I would rather see Igor make 12 million with another team and let them deal .with the financial consequences. Arent there 5 goalies like him if not 10 that are pretty close.

I don't really think anyone is like him. But I still don't think he's worth 12m.

No, Igor is in a league of his own.

But I want the Rangers to take a different approach other than rely on elite goalie to carry the team, because that strategy has NEVER led to the Stanley Cup

Yeah sure, but I don't wanna see a team like Philly or even Washington getting him. Philly has some good young talent and if they had Shesty, well I don't wanna see it. No guarantees that he'd go to other conference, where we'd surely go up against him someday.
He should give a shit about his teammates and NOT be so damned greedy, nor "I should be the highest paid". That shouldnt be the end all, be all. Winning the Cup should be. I mean, what should we all do? Kick in some cash to keep the cap down? Does he need that extra million or 2, more than we need that extra thousand or 2?

i think it's hilarious that we've all agreed over the past 10 games that, yes, okay, he's the best player on the team and we should pay him whatever

Still a hard pass for me. I like Igor a lot, but I dont think its smart to tie up that much cap with him. When Igor was in a rut last year Quick was more than fine.. maybe if we have an average goalie Rangers give up 2 more goals this game, Rangers probably still outscore them at the end of the day.. goalies like Matt Murray and Adin Hill have won cups.

He getting $12m/8 years

Book it
At least. The ask might go up if he keeps playing like this. Someone will give it to him.

If our core were 25-27, I’d say go for it, but we’re gonna be stuck with an unmovable contract and zero leverage in trades in a year or two, when we tear it all down. No point being stuck with a 36 year old has-been when your newly drafted hotshots are fresh off their ELCs (looking further ahead).

I was with you but I don't trust Drury to effectively reallocate his cap hit.
