I've been following the Leafs since the Sundin days. I remember Paul Maurice and getting Ron Wilson. I remember the Phaneuf/Kessel days, the Grabovski/Kulemin period, losing horrendously to Boston when up 4-1. Watching Boston draft Seguin and then Hamilton back to back. Finding Bozak as a "wallet". The Capitals series, the embarrassing Columbus series.

The one thing that has remained consistent throughout all this is that this is a team that cannot handle any pressure. They just completely fall apart and disappear. It's one thing to get routed by stacked teams that eventually go on to win the cup, but to lose the way they do, to the teams they do, just makes me feel like a moron for watching the same thing year on end with zero change.

I watch a lot of hockey, and probably the only other organization as disappointing as this one is Edmonton.

What's even funnier in all of this, you have primma donnas paid mega bucks to just disappear. You gotta draw the line somewhere and this is where it would be for me. Doubt I'll ever tune in to anything Maple Leafs barring a loss tomorrow.

Never will i stop bleeding white and blue. This team has been terrible my entire life, but that is what is going to make it so sweet one day when we win.

If I'm being honest I'm tired of being hurt, tired of having to be friends with disappointment just because i love the maple leaf. But nowhere i shall go.

To be a fan is to be with them through the ups and the down down, very down, keep going not their yet, alright passed the marianas trench, alright there.

And i for one will be there through it all so i can one day bask in the glory, excitment, bliss of the cup.

No, you never quite stop being a fan. I don't know too many people who are hardcore or 'serious' fans of a team or player and then just jump ship when the going gets rough. Usually, people pick a new team when there's some sort of emotive/personal attachment to it that is unrelated to the team's performance (i.e. you move to Detroit so you become a Wings fan; your sister is married to player X who is on team Y, so you follow that team instead).

The more common outcome is that you become more disillusioned and allow other hobbies/passions/sports to take over...like if you lived in London, UK (me), you stop staying up until 4AM to watch every playoff game (and many regular season games), and just check the box scores and highlights. You start following the Blue Jays, frequent HF Boards less, etc., but you're still a Maple Leafs fan. That's the most likely outcome if the Leafs choke tomorrow and probably the path that I'd take. There are so many hours in the day and only so much we can spend our time and attention on - this current team hasn't shown (yet) that it's worth the time and emotional investment.

Nope

No..but I’ll be angry and bitter..well, even more angry and bitter than usual, for a very long time.

I’ll always be a fan, but I don’t know how to keep putting my heart and soul into them only to be stomped on and crushed over and over.

This is easy to do when the players actually care. But I'm sure their millions keep them from staying up at night.

I will only bail if they keep the management group , losing this and in fact their going 7 games is for me the end of Dubas and Shanny , We were led down the path of a complete rebuild over a 5 year period and it was aborted after making the playoffs the first year in . I really think this team lost it's way and management has failed us by rushing the young players and eliminating the mid level players to spend money on a team made up of top dollar guys playing with bottom dollar guys .

With every playoff failure, the regular season becomes more and more meaningless. If they lose tomorrow, and there are no meaningful changes made, then there is no reason to watch them next season. It would be a waste of time. I guess, I will still end up watching because I am a sucker.

I definitely will. No ifs ands or buts. Disgusted with this soft gutless act we are forced to watch.
I will miss these boards though. So i hope to hell they win

I was born in Denver, CO. I grew up a Broncos fan in the 80's, which at the time was the most embarrassing team in the NHL. We were a laughing stock. Super Bowl loss after Super Bowl loss, in epically embarrassing fashion.

Which made that first Super Bowl victory one of the most memorable moments in Denver history. We never gave up on that team, and it finally paid off. Toronto deserves that feeling. And it will come.
