I have been told by people close to Kevin that he wants to come home, play for his favorite team and be close to his family. He is willing to give the hometown discount. If you add all that up, I see him signing with the Rangers for 6 years/ $36 million. But for all that to happen Girardi has to be moved and that will be tough. Not sure if the Rangers will be able to pull that off.

So you just won't sign Zibanejad?

6X6 is a pipe dream

He could get 7.5 from a number of teams

The cap space we have should be used for him and Alzner.

I don't see Brent Burns hitting UFA that's why earlier in this thread I said I would spend BIG and try to sign Alzner AND Shsttenkirk

Reilly Shattenkirk

Gardiner Alzner

That's what I want

It won't happen but that's what I want

Failing that a cam Fowler trade

Guys we're not signing both Shattenkirk and Alzner. Maybe one or the other. Id assume Burns is staying in SJ.

He wants to be close to his family, why does he need to pick NYR? NJD need D in the worst way, why couldn't he sign with them? They have the F now, they need a RD to replace Larsson.

Did you not read my whole post, I said come home, play for his favorite team and be close to family. I only know what I was told by a family member. All we can do is wait and see. Myself, I don't see how the Rangers can even create the cap room for that number.,Those who know Kevin will tell you, its not about the money. That it has always been a childhood dream of his to play for the Rangers.

Not difficult for us to create the cap space. Dont protect Nash for expansion, dont protect Klein for expansion, buy out Girardi etc. If Nash isnt picked by Las Vegas, trade him with some retention, the way he is playing tons of teams would be interested in him at 6 mill(retain 1,8) for example. Anything under 7 or hopefully 6,5 and it isnt a problem.

Idk, the Blues are gonna be kicking themselves if they let him go. I don't think it's offbase to think that the Blues will be able to resign him. 6.5 is doable, his play right now, especially with Tarasenko, is too good to let go. I also think we'll be able to get Parayko signed fairly cheap.

All reports are he isn't coming back

The fanbase for the team that pays him $7 million AAV is going to be VERY disappointed in his D-Zone play. Defensively speaking, he's quite possibly the 5th-6th best defenseman on the Blues.

I had hoped the Blues would trade him. Having not done so, I don't want the Blues to sign him at that amount.

All of that said, put him with a stout defensive partner and you could have a very nice pairing...Shatty needs some cover.

17 miles to be exact. I know if I were him I wouldn't want to be driving that much. Might as well just stay in St. Louis at that point.

Also, this is already at The Rock...

It is 36 miles and on average takes an hour and half with the crossing of the GW Bridge as well. Who would do that?

Westfield is 22 miles from NYC. 12 miles from Newark. At the right time you can get to NYC in 20-25 minutes. I did it all of the time.

Right now on Google Maps, from my old house to MSG it would take 45 minutes.

Right now on Google Maps, 34 minutes from The Rock to MSG.

Where does it say he has to live in his home town? He might just want to be closer to home. An hour and a half away from home is pretty good for a pro athlete.
