Are the Penguins related to the Commanders? Was looking past the trip on Zibanejad some sort of retribution against New York?

But I won't be a sore loser. Jarry played out of his mind and Crosby looks like the Crosby of old.
You guys got the last laugh by winning the playoff series last year anyways.

And will most likely beat us again this year should we meet in the playoffs. I don't like our chances much against any of our possible Metro opponents tbh. Nor would most Pens fans like our chances against any of them.

How exactly do you do that when obvious penalties are not called?
Perhaps someone could use a data driven approach to determine how often the refs call penalties in certain situations and when. Intigrate some game situation into that, like score, how many penalties have been called, how many on each team. Break it down by which refs have tendencies to do what. Stuff that may make a big difference in say one important game, like a playoff game. I don't know, I am just a simple man without the vast resources of the Rangers.

Some post game thoughts:

1. This team seems to have a minimum stupidity clause. It's like we have to make x number of stupid plays. And the better teams will likely make us pay. The bad teams won't. The injured good teams won't. Pitt makes us pay not because they're good but they're a veteran team. That's our whole season, outside of the odd game where we pull it together for 60 - like the one against the leafs.

2. Third period, we had one line going. You can't mount a comeback with that. Kreider and Tro is a thing. That's good. But there's not a ton of chemistry happening with the rest of the lineup. Kids line has some, but they need to find another gear right now.

3. Speaking of which, Kids line was strong for the first half of the game, then it was like they were skating in mud. They were really really poor in their own zone. And that turnover by Miller was the last time the kids saw the ice other than Chytil. They came on the ice and all skating the same circle and not one was a legit outlet for Key. If anything they got in the way. I s'pose it's not terribly egregious but some more situational awareness might have been good. Beyond that, they just aren't there yet. Esp Laffy. He needs to find another level or he's just going to see less ice. Kakko had a great first 30. But he disappeared after that. He needs to find that extra bit of energy to be good for 60.

4. Zibby finally showed up in the last minute. But he was pretty poor again this game. Maybe there's just no rhythm with Panarin, I dunno. But Zibby was weak along the boards throughout the game until the very end. Surprisingly weak.

5. Panarin was garbage in the 2nd. Truly bad. But he showed in the 3rd and was pretty good in the first. He's got no one to play with right now and that seems clear. Maybe Kravtsov. Maybe. But in fairness, when Goody was put back with ZIbby and Panarin in the 3rd they were a bit more effective. In part because Zibby isn't pulling his weight 5v5. He just isn't.

6. I'm not a huge fan of Harpur, but the one thing I do like about him? He stays home which allows Schneider to play up the ice at times. So, for that reason alone, I don't mind it. But it's not going to hold against better teams.

7. Right now, it seems Vesey is banged up. I wanted to blame him for not going all out on the Crosby goal. But he seems slowed by injury.

8. Blais. Look, if he was just out there, trying to make hits, keeping it super simple and crushing guys once or twice a game, I'd be more than fine with him being in the lineup. But he refuses to play a simple game which is not what you need in a fourth liner. He tries too much garbage. His jobs is first and foremost to get the puck deep and then grind the other team's D down. That's it. And he refuses. The penalty he took was bad. But seriously, the refs were far worse of an issue. That was a weak call for a retaliation. Didn't Geuntzel do far worse in the corner only a few min earlier and nothing was called? Then, the refs blow the whistle for no reason when the net comes off the moorings and the Rangers are on a 3-2? That's terrible. And then the Zib call -- again, just bad. They absolutely had a hand in this game going to the Pens. Still maintain Rangers need to fight through the poor calls, but the Refs were... bad.

Good post.

This game was lost in the 2nd half of the 2nd period. It's like we had a sugar crash & stopped skating.

Couldn't agree more about Zib. He's in a bad funk. Not shooting, forcing bad passes...just looks like he has no confidence in his game right now.

Rangers have a long winning streak snapped on the road to one of the hottest teams in the league and we are given 8 reasons why they suck.

Well deserved benching Gerard!
