I was NOT a believer but Cole Caufield is the BEST Player from the 2019 Draft.

GM’s don’t value undersized one dimensional wingers as much as they do with big two way defenseman like Harley or one of the best young shutdown defensemans in the league like Vlasic.

I pretty easily have Hughes, Boldy, Wolf, Seider, Harley, Protas, Voronkov and Vlasic over Caufield.

Boldy religiously plays on the 2nd line when Kap is healthy, which isnt smart imo. When he plays with Kap he scores higher then without obviously, so Boldy outscores Caufield while playing 2nd line minutes with JEE and MoJo opposed to Caufield rolling with Suzuki and Slaf.. Boldy carries his line , while Suzuki carries that top line. Boldy also brings a much better defensive game, and is definitely more physical.
So under appreciated!

I gave my reasoning, and because it doesn’t align with your biases and beliefs, you dismissed it. that’s on you.
You said he wouldn’t produce in the playoffs. You were shown that he already has. Then you said it was because he was an unknown commodoity which was absurd. As a raw rookie in limited minutes he produced really well.

The facts don’t support your opinion. Moreover you haven’t provided anything other than ‘he’s small.’ So, sure it’s your opinion, but you haven’t backed it up. And you haven’t given anything in response to contradictory evidence.

Not all opinions are of the same value. I can have the opinion that Tie Domi is a better player than Wayne Gretzky but it doesn’t mean that the opinion should be taken seriously.

Suzuki does not carry Caufield. But Suzuki is the only center on the team that has any offensive talent at all. Dach’s injuries have ruined any chance of the Canadiens having viable second line.

If you think me saying that I think Caufield will get overwhelmed in the playoffs if/when he makes them because he is small is the same level of opinion as you thinking Max Domi is better than Gretzky, then you’re either trolling or just purposely being obtuse.

No I’m saying that evidence has been provided that undercut your opinion. Rather than acknowledging this you jumped to a fictional excuse.

The Gretzky Domi case was merely an extreme example to highlight that not all opinions are well founded. You can’t just sit there, say something unsupported and then say ‘well it’s my opinion.’ Sure it’s your opinion, but that doesn’t mean you’ve supported it.

Not sure why you are even arguing with that poster. He seems like a big troll. I expect him to reply to me saying that just because I don't like what he says that I am the troll or something. The guys been acting like a smart ass the whole time while posting in this thread. He has been debunked countless times but keeps moving the goal post. I would just forget about him.

I won’t say he’s a troll.

But I will say that I’ve used troll posts in the past as a foil to prove a point. Sometimes it doesn’t matter if the poster is a troll, you can still use it to make an argument for others to see.

More physical? It's not because you're bigger that you're automaticcaly physical. Boldy is soft as butter and doesn't outscores Caufield this year

Hes more physical then Caufield thats for sure, and a lot harder to knock off the puck, Minnesota has been without Kap for 3 months , so Boldys getting all the attention defensively. If Suzuki misses 3 months this year , Caufield dont have 30 simple as that.
And Boldys been laying the body more since 4nations, and is by far the superior defensive forward.

Two different things at play here.

Caufield has been the Canadiens best and most consistent offensive player. Suzuki benefits greatly from having him.

That being said, if Suzuki were to go down it would definitely hrt Caufield’s numbers. Not because CC depends on him but because the Canadiens don’t have anyone else who can play offense at center.

Put Caufield with any decent center and he will produce. He produced back when the team was horrible and Suzuki was struggling.

Harley wildly underrated in this thread. On pace for another 15+ goal season with 60+ points while playing 23 minutes a night while being a key cog in both special teams units.

Since Heiskinen went out, he leads the NHL in ice time (like…the entire NHL) with 5 goals and 15 points in 13 games and over 25 minutes a game.

He’s the guy who clearly belongs in the Hughes/Seider convo, not Caufield. His season is absolutely wild and not enough people are talking about it.

Also, interesting point of fact on Caufield. MSL is very set on usage. Caufield has zero empty net goals in his career. Pasta has four this season, Ovechkin eight…

Suzuki shelters him defensively and that is a fact. Caufield is -1 this season while playing no pk minutes, and Suzuki is +7 playing all situations.
Caufield has never been a plus in any of his seasons. Hockey has 2 sides to the game, and Suzuki is a better center then anyone Boldy has played with ( excluding Kap obvs).
And when Boldy plays with Kap his PPG go up. Also Boldy has never been a minus player in his career, while playing with less quality players.

Plus minus is a trash stat.

Again, the Canadiens have one decent center. After Suzuki they fall off a cliff. Put CC with a decent 2nd line player and not much is going to change. He’s a huge reason Suzuki has the points he does.
