@Marco 85

If you get a chance, take a look at the DQ at Pimlico. Not the best angle and the English-feed was unavailable when I posted, but does anything in the stretch seem obvious for a DQ? I saw the head-on with others and none of us could see the rational.

Belmont Stakes draw:

The two "Tapit" horses draw posts 1 and 2. Pletcher's Forte is in the 6-hole. Cox has three entered.

More later.

Looking back at some memorable Belmont Stakes:

2018: Justify "He's just perfect, and now he's just immortal" as he wins the Triple Crown

2015: American Pharoah "The 37-year wait is over."

2005: Afleet Alex: "And Afleet Alex just ran by Giacomo like he was standing still." To this day, the greatest kick I have ever seen in watching racing for 40 years. He is my second favorite horse for more than one reason.

2004: ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

2002: "Sarava has won, the biggest longshot in the history of the Belmont Stakes.:

1999: "Lemon Drop Kid held on I believe" as Chris Antley helps save Charasmatic.

1998: Real Quiet denied "Victory Gallop with a final surge. It's going to be very close. Here's the wire. It's too close to call. Was it Real Quiet or was it Victory Gallop? A picture is worth a thousand words, this photo is worth 5 million dollars. Oh no. History in the waiting. On hold until we get that photo finish." MAYBE TOM DURKIN'S BEST CALL.

1997: "Three of them in a line... Touch Gold! Touch Gold wins it."

1989: East Coast vs. West Coast. New York's revenge. "Sunday Silence takes the leads and looks to the Triple Crown."

1979: Spectacular Bid denied: "It is an upset now. It is Coastal in front."

1978: Affirmed vs, Alydar: "The two are heads apart."

1973: Secretariat: "He's moving like a tremendous machine."

Would they postpone the Belmont to next week or even a weekday? I was reading the news about the air quality in New York and it looks awful. Reminds me of that September day in 2020 in the Bay Area where it was all orange.

I’m curious about that too.

From my stable and connections at NYRA if things are still on for Saturday as of now. The air quality is significantly worse over manhattan compared to Belmont out in Nassau. More updates to come later this evening.

Horses were jogging over the track at Belmont this morning. One forecast said sunny and 70s for raceday.

NYRA is monitoring per the DRF.

The air quality will be much worse when you're in a hypermetro area with tall buildings and whatnot.

Parx is running today, and still running. I live just a few miles away, and by the hour you can tell the air is getting worse.

Saratoga could host the Belmont Stakes....in 2025.

Part of the $455 million renovation at Belmont is construction during that period which could move the Stakes. The talk includes a possible shift to Aqueduct for that one year.

Aqueduct eventually will be permanently closed to non-racing development once Belmont's reconstruction is completed and that will likely mean an additional surface, winterization, new grandstands and a bid for a Breeders' Cup.

The Chicago skyline looks ominous. Hawthorne is one of the few tracks scheduled as a go.

Penn National just canceled for tonight.

Events for Friday and Saturday in New York are being monitored.

Separately, Linda Rice's multiple-year suspension was revoked by an Appellate decision. In summary, she was suspended for receiving information prior to other trainers including accepting entries before such races closed. Oddly, the ruling states she did receive information from a racing secretary names Jose Morales regularly from 2012-2014 and the $50,000 fine imposed would stand. Her supporters stated that the information did not mislead the public in anyway.

there are and currently 2 separate wildfires in Canada...... 2 in Nova Scotia and the current situation between QUE/ONT, which is why NY and the horses as to why NYRA is monitoring the scenario..... Maine has been relatively raining off and on for much of June and have sent crews to Halifax to combat those fires there.....
