Smarten up bro nobody on this board cares about the kind of hockey you speak of..God forbid if a Ranger stands up for someone with the lead...Un heard of on this forum...And you're correct its sickening to be pushed around by the Wings...This top 9 will wilt vs Bruins if we face them in the PO's

We outplayed the wings from beginning to end. Not even a question. One of the most solid 60 minute efforts of the season.

You might be right about the Bruins, who knows. This team is certainly better then last years.

But how on God's green earth can you complain about the toughness in a game like this?

What a sad agenda you must have to not even be able to enjoy an absolutely fantastic effort by the boys today. This isn't 70's hockey, get up on the times. Fighting is no longer necessary in today's game. And while size is certainly a factor, skill is more so.

I did not bring it up someone else did..I was telling him not to waste his time here with that because it falls on deaf ears...This game was like watching paint dry...If most of you like this kind of non physical hockey that's great some of us don't and the Bruins will demolish us if we have to face them...You cant build a team this soft and expect it to hold up for 2 months of play off hockey...If you don't see this you're in denial

Just watched the highlights..we played a physical game... and the Bruins tried to run around and hit the hawks to win a cup..but guess what! They couldn't Catch them...It's 2014 speed kills toughness in every sport now

You guys are onto something that's really been missed with this trade deadline, though of course its been discussed here & everywhere every single day as long as I can remember;

and that is, Sather's blatant disregard for the size/toughness part of the equation, to the point it looks like they've blatantly said we're going to go right around your thugs and kill you on the scoreboard.

Now, there's a lot that goes along with that, but adding only the 5-7 MSL (and the 5-11 Diaz) to a squad so many included myself how howled for more muscle for so long can really only mean collectively, the Ranger braintrust decided the game has changed, speed & skill and later for all that other b.s.

Critical in all this to me is whether the refs throw out the rulebook in the playoffs. If so, this thing could get ugly.
But the one ace the Rangers have in that case is, their smaller players, Zuc, MSL, even Dorsett, are extremely competitive guys that dont take a backwards step.

But I think it's been really under-discussed, how the Rangers just thumbed their nose at the conventional wisdom on this.
And it'll be really interesting to see what this group does.

one thing I noticed is that Marty is more responsible defensively than offensively. trust me will be good for the rangers, he has so much pride on who he is or who he perceives to be. when Marty had is 1000 game I had the honor to meet many people from Connecticut or NY and they were all impressed with who marty was not as much as the hockey player but the person he is

I actually wouldn't mind seeing the third jersey becoming the home jersey -- and having an away jersey based on the (current) third jerseys. Just swap the navy body with white and the beige / cream with navy. The red can stay where it is. The current home and away jerseys are fine; they're traditional. But I'd like to see a cleaner white jersey.

Blackhawks, Red Wings, Canadiens, don't have 3rd jerseys and they never will.

That the Rangers do only shows how flagrantly mgmt disregards the significance of tradition.

It wouldn't surprise me to discover that the officiating is bent against the Rangers when they wear their abomination jerseys because that's how it should be.

Hockey is better than any game. Tradition plays a part in that. When a guy punctures his lung and doesn't come out that speaks to the entire tradition of the most exceptional team sports history ever.

And when an original 6 team refuses to wear their traditional jerseys whenever they're playing another original 6 team, like back in the days when Muzz Patrick was lacing them up, they are crapping on one of the most important mystical elements of the game.

The Blackhawks have had third jerseys and they will again.

Hockey fans take themselves entirely too seriously.

Oh look, somebody else actually understands an extremely important element to the mystique of hockey:

In any event, their are some teams that should not have an alternate jersey, because it would insult the teams history. For example, The Montreal Canadiens do not have a third jersey and probably never will. Adding an alternate jersey shows a lack of respect to the legends who won great games and even Stanley cups in those jerseys. Almost every original six team has not changed added a third jersey, and their default uniforms are very similar if not exactly the same as they were in the past.

Some more background in case anybody fails to know what they're talking aboot.

::Blink blink::

Did...did you just suggest that the officiating is biased against the Rangers when they wear the 3rd jerseys because the officials take offense to the Rangers sheer audacity to wear a sweater other than the same one they've had for decades?

Because that's ridiculous.

As for tradition, if tradition dictates that a person should continue playing a hockey game despite suffering a pneumothorax, then that tradition needs to be phased out for the sake of player safety. Tradition is romanticism, a player's life takes precedence.

Also, the Hawks have had 3rd jerseys. Not that the Hawks and Wings need 3rd jerseys, they have the 2 best uniforms in all of sports if you ask me.

So, unless the players wear wool jerseys with the same typeset as 1926, they and management are pissing on tradition? Or can we change materials/shades/type as long as it conforms to the standards you allow?

Of all the dumb **** that this board throws up, I think we've found the winner. Congratulations...
