mistake a fellow poster's facetious comment for a serious one.

Judge him. use it as an excuse to generalize about an entire online community.

Am I doing it right? :sarcasm:

Blackhawks, Red Wings, Canadiens, don't have 3rd jerseys and they never will.

That the Rangers do only shows how flagrantly mgmt disregards the significance of tradition.

It wouldn't surprise me to discover that the officiating is bent against the Rangers when they wear their abomination jerseys because that's how it should be.

Hockey is better than any game. Tradition plays a part in that. When a guy punctures his lung and doesn't come out that speaks to the entire tradition of the most exceptional team sports history ever.

And when an original 6 team refuses to wear their traditional jerseys whenever they're playing another original 6 team, like back in the days when Muzz Patrick was lacing them up, they are crapping on one of the most important mystical elements of the game.

So I guess the fact that all the above teams have had multiple uniform and logo changes didn't happen, the Hawks original uniforms weren't black and white, the hawks are going to go back to the way they originally spelled the team's name and Detroit is going back to their original team name of the Cougars, or their next name the Falcons, and reverting back to their D logo? I'm a big fan of the game's history, but it isn't 1930, the Hawks have altered their logo about ten times and don't have black and white unis anymore, Detroit has a completely different name than they originally did, and the Habs don't wear white hockey pants like they originally did. If this is bothering people, it must have really rattled the earth's axis in the mid 20s when the Habs wore those jerseys with the weird globe logos and brown hockey pants.

Life really isn't that serious... is it?

You do realize that, when we play those Original Six teams on the road (i.e. in their town) we wear the white jerseys, which for decades were the home jersey and therefore associated with the Rangers, even more than the blue jerseys.

The Heritage jersey is awesome. I'd even go as far as suggesting wearing the Winter Classic jerseys in road games on Sundays or against O6 teams.

I gave Stepan some grief after the Boston game so I should reciprocate by saying he played well yesterday. He always seemed to be in the right place defensively and was anticipating well offensively.

I also think Klein and Moore played well especially in the offensive zone. Moore had a bad giveaway in the defensive zone that led to a great opportunity for Detroit but overall had a good game.

I was hoping MSL would get a goal to eliminate any pressure he might have but he played well anyway. Also, it was interesting to see him be the last one off the ice yesterday. Remember when it was Boyle, Prust and MDZ? This year I think it was Zucc and now MSL...

It was a great game to be at...

Good overall game although I am still worried about the lack of size in the top-9. The lack of a net front presence on the 2nd or 3rd lines is going to make it harder to score on good goalies. Hopefully Pouliot can continue to drive to the net consistently with his size.

Stepan used to be decent in front of the net. What happened to that?

"Their are some teams"

Nice linking of a clown yahoo answers post

Did you even try to verify or refute what clown said?

Bottom line: MTL, CBH, DRW, never use 3rd jerseys. They use heritage garbage for outdoor games, true, but since merch is the point of outdoor games, so be it. When the Rangers don't use their classic blues against one of these teams, they are ignoring one of the great traditions of all sports. Like when Manchester United play either Man City or Chelsea, no matter they are the uniform is always the same.

I'm guessing the younger generation are the ones supporting this latest alternate jersey. Fine, that's evolution. But if one is going to ignore the role of tradition in hockey, that's cutting oneself off from something that has always been a reward of following hockey.

Imagine what would happen if the Yankees decided to start putting names on unis. Outrage would be wide and far. Congress may intervene.

I did not bring it up someone else did..I was telling him not to waste his time here with that because it falls on deaf ears...This game was like watching paint dry...If most of you like this kind of non physical hockey that's great some of us don't and the Bruins will demolish us if we have to face them...You cant build a team this soft and expect it to hold up for 2 months of play off hockey...If you don't see this you're in denial

Right on. That people can see Legwand, a Wing for a week, smash McDonagh in the mouth with his stick, which the ref plainly saw, and not care that we have nobody to Upshall his ass...okay then , hey we won...yay. Being pushed around by Abdelkader...okay, we won. Yay.

So many guys on other teams will be taking runs at Rangers when the playoffs start, if they get in. Okay then.

So, unless the players wear wool jerseys with the same typeset as 1926, they and management are pissing on tradition? Or can we change materials/shades/type as long as it conforms to the standards you allow?

Of all the dumb **** that this board throws up, I think we've found the winner. Congratulations...

Congratulations on your straw man argument. And to think you thought you were entitled to be demeaning by the end of it...lol

Ok, you guys win. I'm wrong. Sorry. I don't like these jerseys; I like the ones I saw when i was a kid. I also don't like retiring numbers. Raised to the rafters sure. But, it sucks to me that I'll never see another Rangers goalie wearing number 1. Such a beautiful number. Gone forever.

For the 2010 World Cup Argentina proposed not having a #10, or anywhere else, ever again. For Maradona. FIFA told them to forget it. Sounds right to me.

All 3 of those teams use(d) alts. What's wrong. With alternates? You're just being ignorant. There's a lot more tradition than jerseys. Hell if you want tradition lets use the 40s jerseys and brown pants!

The game was slow at times but it had nothing to do with physicality. You telling anyone they are in denial is comical.

Chicago had a black 3rd jersey. EPL teams have different jerseys every season, they just keep the color scheme. Detroit's are the same, but they changed the side the Captaincy goes on.

Yeah, if someone wants to make an argument for jersey tradition, using the EPL is a really poor decision that just makes the person look woefully misinformed. We're talking about teams for whom the primary logo on every jersey is a corporate advertisement.

I'm gonna echo these concerns. I'm not normally one pushing for bigger players, but more physical players, but at the moment the most physical player in the top-9 is Zuccerello. That might get us past the Wings or Isles, but I think Boston or Philly would eat us alive in a series.

EPL teams also use RIDICULOUS 3rd jerseys, which they also change all the time.

I gotta say Pouliot has been pulling more than his fair share of weight in the physicality department. He had 3 big hits in the first two periods against the 'Canes. 6'3" 200 lbs. The first line does get bullied a bit, but Kreider plays with an edge, Nash is strong on the puck too (when he wants to be). The second line seems so slippery that it doesnt seem like a physical game really matters. Then again, we've only seen them for 3 games now, so time will tell.

Pouliot is an enigma. He can hit. He's shown it. It just seems like most of the time he doesn't feel like it. Drives me nuts, because of what he could do if he felt like it.

Kreider SHOULD be our big hitter. But he hasn't thrown a crushing check since his match penalty. Hopefully, someone pisses him off fairly soon.

Nash hasn't played a power-forward game all year. Another case of should, but isn't.
