Blackhawks, Red Wings, Canadiens, don't have 3rd jerseys and they never will.
That the Rangers do only shows how flagrantly mgmt disregards the significance of tradition.
It wouldn't surprise me to discover that the officiating is bent against the Rangers when they wear their abomination jerseys because that's how it should be.
Hockey is better than any game. Tradition plays a part in that. When a guy punctures his lung and doesn't come out that speaks to the entire tradition of the most exceptional team sports history ever.
And when an original 6 team refuses to wear their traditional jerseys whenever they're playing another original 6 team, like back in the days when Muzz Patrick was lacing them up, they are crapping on one of the most important mystical elements of the game.

mistake a fellow poster's facetious comment for a serious one.
Judge him. use it as an excuse to generalize about an entire online community.
Am I doing it right?![]()
Black Hawks have that black jersey they were sometimes. I think Detroit is the only O6 team without a 3rd jersey
Good overall game although I am still worried about the lack of size in the top-9. The lack of a net front presence on the 2nd or 3rd lines is going to make it harder to score on good goalies. Hopefully Pouliot can continue to drive to the net consistently with his size.
"Their are some teams"
Nice linking of a clown yahoo answers post
I did not bring it up someone else did..I was telling him not to waste his time here with that because it falls on deaf ears...This game was like watching paint dry...If most of you like this kind of non physical hockey that's great some of us don't and the Bruins will demolish us if we have to face them...You cant build a team this soft and expect it to hold up for 2 months of play off hockey...If you don't see this you're in denial
So, unless the players wear wool jerseys with the same typeset as 1926, they and management are pissing on tradition? Or can we change materials/shades/type as long as it conforms to the standards you allow?
Of all the dumb **** that this board throws up, I think we've found the winner. Congratulations...
All 3 of those teams use(d) alts. What's wrong. With alternates? You're just being ignorant. There's a lot more tradition than jerseys. Hell if you want tradition lets use the 40s jerseys and brown pants!Did you even try to verify or refute what clown said?
Bottom line: MTL, CBH, DRW, never use 3rd jerseys. They use heritage garbage for outdoor games, true, but since merch is the point of outdoor games, so be it. When the Rangers don't use their classic blues against one of these teams, they are ignoring one of the great traditions of all sports. Like when Manchester United play either Man City or Chelsea, no matter they are the uniform is always the same.
I'm guessing the younger generation are the ones supporting this latest alternate jersey. Fine, that's evolution. But if one is going to ignore the role of tradition in hockey, that's cutting oneself off from something that has always been a reward of following hockey.
Imagine what would happen if the Yankees decided to start putting names on unis. Outrage would be wide and far. Congress may intervene.

Chicago had a black 3rd jersey. EPL teams have different jerseys every season, they just keep the color scheme. Detroit's are the same, but they changed the side the Captaincy goes on.

Yeah, if someone wants to make an argument for jersey tradition, using the EPL is a really poor decision that just makes the person look woefully misinformed. We're talking about teams for whom the primary logo on every jersey is a corporate advertisement.
I'm gonna echo these concerns. I'm not normally one pushing for bigger players, but more physical players, but at the moment the most physical player in the top-9 is Zuccerello. That might get us past the Wings or Isles, but I think Boston or Philly would eat us alive in a series.
I gotta say Pouliot has been pulling more than his fair share of weight in the physicality department. He had 3 big hits in the first two periods against the 'Canes. 6'3" 200 lbs. The first line does get bullied a bit, but Kreider plays with an edge, Nash is strong on the puck too (when he wants to be). The second line seems so slippery that it doesnt seem like a physical game really matters. Then again, we've only seen them for 3 games now, so time will tell.
