Not sure what to think about Allen this year. Kind of hot and cold. We played really well in his first two games and the first shutout he had against Utah.
We definitely didn't play well tonight. This is the kind of game we've seen teams run away with against us, where we wind up being the ones getting shutout or scoring just one in the end.

Devils controlled that 3rd period as it went along. Missed at least 2 grade A chances to extend the lead, before the Meier goal.
Great shutdown of that 6on5. Felt Palat passed up an easy EN goal to try to get jack in one or whomever palat tried to feather to...
Thought Mercer was good in a couple of key moments. Some not so good play early mid game, but was decent in the 3rd.

I know the shot totals weren't what you want, but I really liked the way they played after Bratt scored. I can only think of a couple saves Allen had to make after it went 2-0 that weren't totally routine.

Jack has flashes and you'd think he'd gain some confidence with a few good plays going in. He made an awesome play on the puck on the Bratt missed open net and you could just see the despair on his face when Bratt missed lol.

After the Timo goal I don't think he had to make many saves that weren't routine, but he was still pretty under siege coming into the 3rd. I think we started to really look better after that early 3rd period penalty kill.
The shutout looked like it was gonna be safe after that, and definitely after the Timo goal.

I also don't put a lot of stock into shot totals. I've seen teams pump like 30 shots on a goalie, but they were all straight to the logo wafters.

I thought Mercer was good for 2nd half of game. I saw some dodgy play early on, but definitely settled in himself, that line with Nico and Meier really cementing.
