Hypothetically the Leafs could do a Dryden Hunt for McDavid and Draisaitl deal.
I was just having some fun with the running theme of Matthews going to Arizona. This means we could trade for anyone else that's not named Conner McDavid.
Cap Shmap!Hypothetically the Leafs could do a Dryden Hunt for McDavid and Draisaitl deal.
Ita not as insane as you think considering that Matthews only has 1 year left on his contract after this season. The ultimate Hfboards nonsense. Reigning MVP + Rocket winner for a prospect.
Insane.
Come on man. Don’t be ridiculous!!.........Hypothetically the Leafs could do a Dryden Hunt for McDavid and Draisaitl deal.
Only if the Oilers add.Hypothetically the Leafs could do a Dryden Hunt for McDavid and Draisaitl deal.
This is missing significant context. The NHL is a salary cap league and value per dollar matters. It’s extremely likely that Bedard provides more value per dollar than Matthews next season and every season following. The ultimate Hfboards nonsense. Reigning MVP + Rocket winner for a prospect.
Insane.
If you trade Matthews for Bedard you remove us from contender status until Bedard matches his impact, which seeing Matthews is a Hart/Lindsey/Rocket winning C who's big and good defensively is a big ask. You only do this if Matthews makes it explicit that he's not coming back and you get big adds on Zona's end. This is missing significant context. Yes.You only do this if Matthews makes it explicit that he's not coming back
It's obvious there is a chunk of this fanbase that would rather have high draft picks than a cup contending team. Complete nonsense.I think people are really overestimating Matthews desire to play in a college arena, local connections only go so far. And I doubt Arizona would do a trade like this for just 1 season of Matthews
Who cares about NHLers when we can have picks and prospects!
I think that chunk of the fan base doesn’t believe they are a cup contending team. It's obvious there is a chunk of this fanbase that would rather have high draft picks than a cup contending team.
Then that chunk of the fanbase is wrong.I think that chunk of the fan base doesn’t believe they are a cup contending team.
They haven't won a round in the Matthews era so I'm not sure why people are supposed to believe things are different now. Then that chunk of the fanbase is wrong.

Hunt is an absolute stud. Edmonton would have to include RNH and a 1st round pick to make this deal even remotely fair!!![]()

Now you're the one leaving out quite a bit of context. The fact is that they are a contender, and have one of the best chances at the cup. You don't throw that away because of a shiny new toy, and a refusal to understand how and why they actually lost those past series. They haven't won a round in the Matthews era so I'm not sure why people are supposed to believe things are different now.
The league is won on contract efficiency. Having the best player isn’t enough to win. You're missing the context that Matthews is a generational goalscorer and superstar 1st line C. Sorry, I'm not willing to risk that on a prospect. I don't see Bedard as a better player at any time in his career then Matthews is now.
Tampa was close but they still didn’t win. Montreal and Columbus were inexcusable. Refer to my last post about contract efficiency as it pertains to the “shiny new toy”.Now you're the one leaving out quite a bit of context. There's more to it than that, and you don't even know if Bedard will be more efficient relative to cap anyway. When you're in a position to win, like we are, you don't throw that away. If you just keep trading the best thing for the next thing, you'll never win.The league is won on contract efficiency.
They were all close (maximum games, outplayed all of them, outscored two of them), and while they ended in unfortunate outcomes, nothing about them invalidates our contender status or cup potential this year, especially when the last two played in the cup final.Tampa was close but they still didn’t win. Montreal and Columbus were inexcusable.
They're definitely a chunkI think that chunk of the fan base doesn’t believe they are a cup contending team.
If you believe that then that is your prerogative but not everyone has to believe it.They were all close (maximum games, outplayed all of them, outscored two of them), and while they ended in unfortunate outcomes, nothing about them invalidates our contender status or cup potential this year, especially when the last two played in the cup final.
