This says more about Hutson than it does about Cooley IMO. Cooley is a key cog on one of the best teams in the country that has plenty of depth scoring.

I dont think many really expected Hutson to struggle that much in the NCAA.

Habs fan here. Quit this shit bud - Lane isn’t on Fox/Hughes level. No reason to gloat before anything even happens.

Lane is on another level I agree
Cooley has gotten progressively better through the season and quickly too. He was trying to be a little too cute with the puck to start the year, and Minnesota has played a way tougher schedule than Hutson's team. He creates a ton of chances when he's on the ice because he just has next level skill and awareness coupled with his speed and playmaking. His shot is also pretty good
I think there's a small % he becomes a top defenseman, but he'll have to prove it agaisnt pros. Highly doubtful he becomes as dominant as Fox, but Hughes, I can see it. He might not skate as well, but his shot is a lot more dangerous and he might end up a bit stronger defensively.
But yeah, like you, I don't like the premise of Cooley a recent top 5 pick VS Hutson after less then 20 NCAA games....

I don’t like thread like this either but, insecurity about what though? lol it’s not like the kid was taken high enough in the draft for people to be scared he won’t pan out in the NHL.

Hutson had the talent to be the third D taken last draft behind Nemec and Jiricek in my opinion. Kid has the offensive talent to be one of the elite offensive D in this league. Issue is and always has been and probably will be his size.
