Anybody know an attorney who deals with HOA matters?

I don’t need one yet, but my HOA might eventually need someone to put them in their place. They left us alone for the first year, but now they’re sending vibes of having too big an ego and too little knowledge of what the f***ing covenants actually say.

I have to say, I really love paying dues for the privilege of being harassed by some power tripping nobody.

I don't in your area but any real estate lawyer will do. They know their shit. Bad HOAs are scum.

It’s such a luck of the draw thing. Our last neighborhood had about 1200 houses and we never heard of the HOA doing anything except maintain the common areas and throw block parties. They never needed to because people liked the neighborhood, did their part to maintain it, and mostly just lived and let live. It was great.

This one is much smaller. The people here take care of their stuff too (or really, most of them just pay other people to do it), and the HOA was quiet until they weren’t. The thing is, I don’t mind playing by the rules. I understand the purpose of an HOA and I knowingly agreed to the covenants that encumber the property when I bought it. The problem is that these people are harassing us over this and that, but have yet to actually show us the rules we’re supposedly breaking. I’m about 90% sure that nobody ever got around to writing them.

I’m maintaining my property, keeping it “in harmony with the character of the neighborhood,” and asking for approval when the covenants say I have to. Get off my ass.

Yeah, that is my understanding as well. But it would not surprise me to find they gave Ukraine the ATACAMs in secret to prevent Russia from changing their behavior before Ukraine could use them on high value targets.

Edit: It also would not surprise me to learn that this was done by Russians that want the war to end sooner, either.
