aaaand now there was another "object" over Alaska. And apparently Canada shot it down.

I anticipate conspiracy theories that the Biden admin is about to manufacture a fake war with ETs to institute the New World Order

Straight out of the Paul Krugman playbook.

After that we'll probably have the Fed start minting trillion dollar coins.

Paul "The internet will have as much impact on the economy as the fax machine" Krugman?? Nobel Prize indeed 🙂

This is truly the dumbest and craziest timeline.

...except that he had already invaded Ukraine in 2014 during Obama's administration, a f***ing month after Maidan, and we didn't do shit about it. Trump, otoh, was giving Putin everything he could possibly have hoped for from a policy perspective, including a weakening of NATO. No sense in antagonizing a friendly administration when you can use that administration to further weaken your adversaries, right?

Remember: Putin thought he would finish the job in three days, and so did we. I'm sure he thought, since I'm going to be facing a hostile administration now, might as well get everything I can, and once again they won't do shit about it. He didn't count on Zelenskyy being the 21st century Churchill.

On the NATO critique, Trump is a disagreeable fellow and let NATO members know they were not upholding their end of the bargain. In 2016 only 4 of the 30 members were hitting the target of 2% spending on GDP and only 9 were spending the target 20% of defense budgets on equipment purchases.

After Trump calling them out (and some publicly acknowledging he was correct in doing so) in 2020 10 countries were spending 2% of GDP and 16 were spending 20% of their budgets on new equipment.

So, the media by-and-large spun it that Trump was "weakening" NATO with his open/blunt critiques, but he was in fact strengthening it.

He did call them out. Other presidents before him did the same. The major difference between him and the other presidents: he’s the only one who made plans to abandon NATO.

So lets go through some scenarios-

1- China thought the balloon thing was so great they'd give us more high tech stuff to use as target practice- maybe getting F-22 avionics data? Hence the use of short range heatseeking missiles instead of radar guided AMRAAMs

2- Pentagon sees the balloon fiasco as a great cover to start massacring these UFOs to get the new bureaucracy they created- the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office- something to actually work with

3- Pentagon sees the balloon thing as a great way to bury the whole UFO mess "They were Chinese drones along! Nothing to see here!"

What we're going to find out is China has a sense of humor and is now just sending random balloons over Alaska and Canada just to f*** with us.

You may be on to something. They just published a pic of the balloon they shot down off the coast of Alaska:

Well, as you might imagine my outlook for 2023 was not all that bright but The two things I did NOT have on my bingo card were the first 3 air-air kills for the F-22, over our own airspace AND a large venn diagram overlap of World War III, Civil War II, and Galactic War I

It is actually the Russians with the balloons trying to get us to use all of our disposable munitions instead of sending them to Ukraine.

Well...project "Bluebeam" didn't exist back in 1986 when I saw what the Navy calls a "Tic Tac" for myself over Long Island. Or the other half dozen or so times where I saw shit that was completely unreal.

So, I'm not saying the government wouldn't use disclosure to gain more control over us..but this stuff is not make believe. Just like Covid wasn't make believe, but they still used it to screw with us. 9/11? Well I'd like to believe that my entire adult life wasn't for nothing but I could never get my head around WTC-7. Even ChatGPT admits that its weird.

I’m late to the party and after that Rangers game, I’m a little over the top.

China has a robust and very capable satellite network. They didn’t and don’t need a balloon to gather any ISR (intelligence, surveillance, recon) against us. This balloon was symbolic. China wants to measure our response and to demonstrate they aren’t afraid to penetrate our airspace. They are preparing for Taiwan. They are training and developing the naval capability to be successful in an amphibious landing and subsequent invasion and occupation. What’s our response?

Yeah, with there being multiple objects of varying sizes, it could just be a test to see how big/small of an object shows up on our radar and the response time thereof.

Send out the obvious balloon initially, then send drones of various sizes and/or detectability to see if there's a weak spot somewhere.

Did you catch my earlier post about it? Google "Gorgon Stare". And also google "JSTARS".

Sattilites are overhead for only a few minutes and we know their schedule.

MASINT and persistent ISR loitering over Minuteman III silos for days? I guarantee you, among other things, that at a minimum China knows the home addresses of every Missile Officer from Malmstrom AFB.

I said the exact same thing last week - not just on this forum but others - but the “wait and see” and “don’t jump to conclusions “ and the “Oh hush, China has been spying on us forever” crowd saw these as harmless air shows from the CCP. We have a history of having learning the hard way before a conflict.
