That’s absolutely crazy. The lines for the men’s room are FAR longer to the point of not being comparable. Effectively the women’s rooms will have zero line while the men are wrapped around the concourse.

I realize it will be different for dates like concerts or women-focused events, but there are upwards of 75 sports events a year at PNC and the bathroom dynamic is very consistent across all of them. They’re going to end up with drunk men going into the women’s room so they don’t piss themselves.
The building I work in has like 10 women and 90 men, there are 4 bathrooms for each sex totalling 8 stalls for women and 6 urinals + 6 stalls for men...math ain't mathing on that one

Holy shit, it's actually worse than I thought. The proposal isn't just to add more women's stalls, but to remove some of the men's restrooms to make that happen

What the actual f***

Canes with a big miss here. Since they are expanding out, couldn't they have built expansive restrooms on the outer ring and also expanded the concourses.

I went to Cane @ Panther game LY and was impressed with their restroom size. Men's and women's were frequent and huge with about 20 urinals per for men.

So do you guys get to drink beer at work? How are the lines? How can I get a job there?:sarcasm:
Drink beer at work? No...otherwise we'd all have to be drunk by the end of the day

Lines for men? Well...after lunch if you gotta #2 you're gonna be prarie-dogging and making laps around until something opens up...or on occasion saying f***it and going to the women's restroom bc your only other option is shit yourself

Lines for women...they basically all get their own stall!! (almost misspelled that staal lol)

Yeah that’s not gonna end well at all. Did nobody in the design process actually attend a game to see what they’re dealing with?

Gensler is San Fran based but has offices in many cities including Raleigh. When I looked at their portfolio, they showcase a lot of projects for Universities and Professional teams (lol they were in charge of coyote renderings too)

PNC rendering/thought process looks like their “C” work but then again perhaps what Dundon really cared about ($$$$$$) was the massive real estate projects accompanying the PNC refresh.

Man if I am dropping a deuce at PNC its a damned emergency.

NOT a fan of removing the corners. I thought they were taking out some for a bar and adding in some elsewhere for a net equal. How many less seats? Will they sell standing room bar only seats? I want to be on Row A of the 300s.

I'm guessing by December or Jan the tix will be fairly cheap anyway this year

Multiple nursing rooms? What does the Venn diagram of: actively nursing women + attending a sporting event/concert + only spending 3 hours in the venue look like? Feels like square footage better used on ... any number of other things.

I left an English soccer stadium, did my business behind some bushes and sacrificed my undershirt to the cause of "not going in an arena" before. And I don't regret it.

Looking over their portfolio, I wouldnt say we are getting their C work, I think there is just only so much you can do when you are renovating an existing structure and not building new.

But I do get the impression that most of the budget is going to to toward completely overhauling the loading gates and opening up the front entry (removing the ticketing offices), and widening the concourse by removing stairwells. Hopefully they are able to amend these plans a bit because they really need to reconsider downsizing the men's restrooms, and I worry that they're going to create huge bottlenecks at the stairs once they remove the amount they are talking about.

Try 50 and 10 with a total of 3 for each gender. And they get pissy when I keep insisting on working from home as something I need on any eval. Like there's 50+ guys here, all of 3 toilets for the men to use, period, and I have a medical condition. So STFU about any AFK time, that's caused entirely by YOUR f***ing policy and the limitations of this building.

They remodeled the big government building where I work

Each bathroom now (except one) has one stall and one urinal. Finding a place to take a dump is always a challenge. Rumor is that they want employees spending less time sitting in them.

Gotta believe that now that everyone has a smart phone connected to the internet it's become much more of an issue than it was in the past lol.

I remember spending a good chunk of my day in the restroom playing Sonic the Hedgehog on my Moto RAZR during an internship back in 2007.

I liked to brag to my college buddies that I was getting paid $35/hour to take a dump.

One thing about the view bar and increased common areas is it can negatively affect how loud the crowd is.

The bunker suites are wild to me - so they are just a room with no view of the event? I guess just trying to get revenue for any avail space.

Not a fan of removing stairways - I'm a huge aisle seat guy - hopefully they won't be doing that in lower bowl.

I agree with what has been said about spending a lot of time/money on making the outside look nicer seems unnecessary. Also a huge impressive lobby is not important to me - to me knocking out to use some of that area to make inside concourse area larger would be better use of space (that may be coming later though)

Expect negative effects on the crowd, that has been a consistent pattern with newer style buildings and remodels.

As long as the overall structure remains the same, I don't think it'll noticeably impact crowd noise. Acoustics will still be the same, the arena is still going to be pretty damn vertical with a relatively low ceiling. Opening up one of the corners probably won't impact noise very much at all as long as its still a wall of noise everywhere else.

The big thing that is going to impact the crowd is the ever increasing prices of tickets and concessions, driving away the middle class leaving a venue only the wealthy can attend. By the end of this decade, I do fully expect the playoff crowd at PNC to be much more sedate than it has been in the past.

Simply removing people from their seats to go stand at bars or hang out in bunker suites (or stand in men’s bathroom lines) will have an impact on crowd dynamics.

Acoustics are great, but if 10% of the crowd isn’t in their seats it’s going to get quieter and less visually intimidating.

The market has a good example of the problem: Carolina’s Blue Zone.

Duke’s new Fb Stadium seating approach may be the 2nd example.

I mean I SOMEWHAT get the first point. But the arena has sufficient area to put those in WITHOUT having to cut down on restroom space. Outright removing a good amount of men's room space is going to go over with the fanbase like a lead balloon considering that the vast majority of use the arena gets is events where the ratio of men to women is close to 70/30 (Canes and Wolfpack BB). The #1 complaint to begin with is about the lack of restroom availability overall with that sort of demographic split so guarantee you're going to start seeing guys hijacking the family restroom space if needed. And it WILL be needed.

Personally I'm a fan of them adding a sensory room on each floor though, when I get migraines they can get so bad that I can't even manage stairs since I occasionally get vertigo as part of it.
