coming out other side of rebuild my very optimistic hope for a lineup looks like in 2020-2021

kreider-zibanejad-buchnevich
• worked before, lost magic this season, dont know why
panarin-chytil-kravstov
• inject into my veins
andersson-howden-fast
• one of howden/andersson’s gotta move to wing, would like it to be howden, thinking it will he lias...also wonder if a high draft pick this season or next knocks fast down to 4th
gettinger-nieves-???
• meskanen/ronning/draft pick/free agent signing/fast? dont like the idea of fast on 4th line because id rather get a haul than pay him 3-4 mill for 4th line

skjei-deangelo
• wont be mcquaid, likely wont be shattenkirk... so must be our best defenseman.
•hoepfully vet is brought in between now and then to let skjei develop properly in a second pairing role so he would be able to handle 1st pair roles if need be.
• ideally there would be a trade involving hajek/pionk to obtain a legitimate top pair d

lindgren-shattenkirk
• liked this tonight so why not

hajek-pionk
• not sure what this would look like, or if it will happen.

miller-lundkvist-rykov
• both wont be ready, but will be promising prospect sstarting to get the attention they deserve as potential top 4d league wide.
• rykov is an unknown to me
• also the potential we draft a D that is ready for then (byram/broberg)

hank/igor
• still think hank can be elite, but if not thats no issue because the czar is on his way

anything/one i forgot?

You forgot most of the players won’t mske it.

Lindgren had some strong defensive plays - maybe a new Tanev type of player and none of us expected him to create offensive plays - we have DeAngelo for that and kevin. :)

I was staring at this trying to work out why you'd post a field fun and what relevance it might have, then realised it was an anti-tank gun

Thought it was a great game by the boys.

Zibanejad continues to show why I’d like him here over the longer haul.

We can debate whether he’s the guy we want centering a first line, or a potentially top shelf second line center, but the reality is that he’s more or less maintained a 70 point pace throughout the year.

Should that continue, it would make him the first Ranger to reach the mark since Gaborik in 2012, and the first center to do so since Gomez in 2008.

It’s a shame that many people are turning on Pionk after a couple bad games. This is the opposite of what happened a few weeks ago. Pionk was playing well, and DeAngelo was struggling. And people turned on ADA.

lol yeah true i guess. i think KZB must all be kept whether on the same line or not, but wouldnt be pissed to see skjei leave.

i accounted for vesey, strome, namestnikov, staal, mcquaid, zucc, smith, claesson departures

its too bad, because aside from deangelo ,claesson has been one of our better dmen. just no fit in the long term.

i think if this recent trend of nieves playing extremely well continues, you pencil him in as your 4C and lock him down

im relatively new to the in game analysis part of hfboards rangers forums, but ive never beena fan of pionk.

for me, a streak of 4 or 5 games wont make me turn one way or another on a player, but a trend of 15-20 games will change my opinion. staals rebounded this season long enough to change my thoughts, while pionk has never floated my boat. deangelo, even through his struggles, ive always believed hes a special talent.

Happens all the time.

This board is arguably one of the smartest sections of the forum. But if it has one big flaw, it’s that it tends to be very reactionary and (increasingly) black and white.

As a result, it can be difficult to balance the euphoria and over-stating that happens when things go well, with the the despair and slash and burn approach when it doesn’t.

Not going to lie, even when I was a reporter and editor on the site, it could be exhausting. Some days, the reactions are more exhausting than the actual games and players.

I don’t want to say you ever get used to it, so much as you just tend to roll your eyes and move on.
