He's got his flaws anyway, but AV's man-to-man did Staal absolutely no favours
something that will always bewilder me is for the system that AV ran, he

... TONY MOTHERF***ING DEANGELO ....

really needed defense than were good skaters, but he showed an affection for shutdown defenders who couldnt skate. girardi ( god love him ) and staal ( if only he avoided the injuries) were just not a fit, but AV seemed to really like using them ALOT more than he should have.

not only that, but he seemed to hate guys who could skate just as much as he loved the ones who struggled with that aspect. from clendening (seemed to have something to give, just not sure what it was), to deangelo, to yandle, if a guy was given an offensive label, he just seemed to haye them even though they could skate the way he needed them to for his system.

beating a dead horse since hes gone, but he worked for all of about 2 seasons and then it was a dumpster fire.

Surprise McGin kept composure there.

In a blowout loss getting that treatment I would have snapped

I still think Quinn did the right thing by scratching DeAngelo. This is how he was playing the beginning of the year before he started struggling. Maybe his much better play is a result of Quinn?
