Because Shatty has something neither of those players have. A large sample size of being amazing on the PP.No, man. How can you say that when Shattenkirk can’t do any of that 5v5, where he has been getting sheltered minutes with our supposedly best d-man (Claesson)?
He’s still a kid, let him get stronger and improve his puck control and he’ll be a beastIt's almost as if Chytil gets nervous and just loses the puck as soon as he gets a chance.
Pretty much echoes my impressions of Pionklove the chats on here, its always good to talk with other people.
on this PP debate. 3 parts to this for me:
1) Shattenkirk. his overall play, all facets, has just dipped since that first injury he had last year. its too bad, because he used to be an elite PP force. now, hes still a very valuable asset on the PP, and im not saying he cant get back to his elite level as soon as next season, but even if hes not as good as he once was, hes still better than anyone we’ve got not named...
2) Tony DeAngelo. ive gone on enough about my unwavering love for this player, but this guy is an offensive talent that is waiting to flourish when hes giving constant playing time (i mean actually in the lineup) and actual PP options that arent strome and vesey. now, i know anyone you put with PP1 calibre players is going to see their production spike ( a la pionl) but its not undeserved in DeAngelo’s take and he can and should play at them since he would help, not hinder them.
3) On Pionk. i gotta be honest, dont love the player. i think he’s been more of an anchor on staal than the reverse narrative that seems to flow because of some undeserving hate (atleast this season) towards staal. hate the contract, not the player. anyways, im not ALL about the “fancy” stats, but without reading them i can see pionk is constantly hemmed in his own end, and then after that the charts just support that. im also not convinced hes that good at defending, which he seems to do a lot of. also, his stats are vastly inflated by that hot streak where every time he passed it to zib it ended up in (mostly due to kreiders incredible screens), or zib made an incredible pass to zucc back door.
anyways end of that rant for me, i apologize again if you put yourself through the pain of reading that whole thing
I disagree. I think DeAngelo is better. 5v5, power play, penalty kill, 3v3, 4v4, you name it.So we're just ignoring the first 35 games?
Shattenkirk is getting more time recently because we finally decided that putting the best PPQB since Leetch on the PP is a good idea.
a branch off of this ... in the same way AV simply needed to play glass and needed to play girardi and staal in top minutes dispite evidence showing they actualy performed better when they were given less ice time, DQ seems to have a burning desire to hbe pionk on PP1 despite shatty and deangelo both being better options, and also has a fetish for mcleod.love the chats on here, its always good to talk with other people.

Chytil loses control of the puck every damn game and people still get on me for saying he has the potential of anything less than a 1st line forward.
if were playing the wildly unrealistic franchise mode of NHL, chytil is a low elite in its purest form. the problem with low elites in that game is they always seem to reach that, or just be depth forwards. that doesnt define chytil as im close to 100% sure hes a top 6f eventually, but im still holding onto hope he can be that elite guyChytil loses control of the puck every damn game and people still get on me for saying he has the potential of anything less than a 1st line forward.
I would say low elite, because from my experience, about 1/3 of them reach 85-88 overall, about 1/3 of them become middle 6 forwards, and about 1/3 of them become 4th liners/depth forwards. But it really depends on their starting overall. For example, in NHL 18, Skjei was a low elite at 83 overall, but he pretty much always reached at least 85 overall. And he usually became an 87 overall.if were playing the wildly unrealistic franchise mode of NHL, chytil is a low elite in its purest form. the problem with low elites in that game is they always seem to reach that, or just be depth forwards. that doesnt define chytil as im close to 100% sure hes a top 6f eventually, but im still holding onto hope he can be that elite guy
Yea, and you can’t base your argument based on 2 years ago. Ever since he got here, he’s been underwhelming in all facets of the game. He’s even getting sheltered minutes with arguably our most steady defenseman (Claesson).Because Shatty has something neither of those players have. A large sample size of being amazing on the PP.

i think hes going to be a real solid player, and possibly a top line player. i see where some people can hype him up, but i think the overhyping youre talking about is an effort to compensate really. you saw alot of people who hated the lias pick for being too safe. then you have your party who loved the safe choice because its comforting to know what youve got.I would say low elite, because from my experience, about 1/3 of them reach 85-88 overall, about 1/3 of them become middle 6 forwards, and about 1/3 of them become 4th liners/depth forwards. But in real life, I would say Chytil is a middle 6 forward (more likely a 2nd liner), due to his poor puck control and average hockey IQ. But he still needs to work on his strength, balance, and awareness. I hope he proves me wrong, but I’ve always hated the overhyping of Chytil (e.g. he would be a top 5 pick in the 2018 NHL draft).
