I think the refs handled the McQuaid thing just fine. He blocked the shot and it f***ing hurt. Happens all the time. Wasn't up high and the Canes had the puck so play on. After 6 or 7 seconds, it becomes clear he's not getting up and the possibility of an injury exists, so they blow it dead. No one on either team seemed pissed how it was handled, leading me to believe it was done well.

Exactly. I cannot stress this enough: while his slapper isn’t good or strong, he’s one of the best d-men in the league at getting his shot on net, and that’s statistically proven. I know this is one example, but still.

Why would that be taboo? It should definitely be considered an unfair advantage to take hormones while you're playing.

Pretty sure that it wasn't until he retired that he started to though.

im not sure if youve noticed, but DeAngelo is also INCREDIBLE at making heads up passed in his own end. just sees the defender coming on hsi back, takes a look, and instead of rimming it around like most defenseman would with no direct pass....he chips it backhand to the center swinging or between his legs to the winger.

beyond me some people say he is horrible at defense because he may not be able to dominate guys. ive seen really strides in his awareness and hes never been afraid to get in someones face. tough to understand why guys want to run a defenseman who can make direct passes to get out of his own end,
AND is offensively oriented.
