here's my take on the Staal-Howden mixup...

Looked like Howden was initially opening himself up for a D-to-D pass staying stationary on the right side but then started swinging thinking Staal would go to ADA off the bench or someone else. after all you don't normally see d-to-d passes to your centerman.

Howden wasn't ready for it, but I guess you can say an NHL player still has to catch and control that passs.

Ya, it's an awkward handling by Howden. That's one he'll learn real quickly but the real issue is Staal having no ability to outlet the puck and just passes it to his defensive partner and even a rookie centerman in front of the net at the slightest amount of pressure. No communication either.

That's actually a good breakdown and now I put the full blame on Howden. He was in position for a pass and moved to the middle as Staal was about to pass. He definitely looked like he was giving Staal some cover for a pass.

I thought Howden just looked off balance completely on that play, as somebody else noted in an earlier post.
That affects anything you try to do. I dont blame it on Staal.

Mika is on fire tonight!
Zuccs doing some damn good stuff.

Zucc is hustling. It's not just the passes but he's back to doing his most effective stuff away from the puck. His puck pursuit and puck battle intensity is back to 100 and when he has the puck in the offensive zone before the defense gets set is where his passing cashes in. Without that relentless puck pursuit and retrieval, beating guys to the puck and using his size to get on the inside, he's useless. Different player when he's like this.

he was in pain. hockey is a painful game. u dont blow plays dead unless someone gets hit in the head, face, or throat.
I disagree. If a player gets hit and hits the ground and doesn't move for more than 5 seconds you blow it dead because as a ref there's no way in the hell you know if the injury is serious or not.

But whatever HAWKEY WARRIORS and some other shit people want to say to excuse potential serious injury.

I digress. Continue with your schedule entertainment.
