I was losing my goddamned mind at that play. If he doesn’t score on the ensuing rush, who knows how that game ends. It would have been the Stromeiest thing ever had it gone down that way.
I was mid rant about "Stupid f***ing Strome can't ever hit a goddamn empty net, oh here he is now on a 2 on 1 watch him score here after missing the easiest goal of his life..." and then he scored lmao

Spot on. The sad thing is they could be good at hockey, Gary Thorne is just sitting out there waiting for a call.

I am enjoying it. I’m also realistic that if we don’t win the Cup - and it’s still overwhelming likely that we don’t - I will look back and deduce that it was probably better to lose that game 7, all things considered. The pick is worth more than an extra four games of experience, for example.

But that’s my opinion.
maybe

But there is a real chance at winning the cup now (slim though it may be) that is worth something. They may never get back here.

And playing series against the top teams is a good learning experience for the players.

Wow. I feel like Jordan Staal had his soul broken. Didn’t think he was a sore loser. He was just shattered.
Maybe? The second time I viewed it it didn’t seem as bad. There was just that part where I thought he gave more weight to them not playing well than the Rangers team playing well.

Yeah. A ton of that. ‘We didn’t play our game’. Why, Jordan?

I was interested to hear Marek and Friedman’s podcast about The Rangers taking care of Carolina.
They discussed the rangers for less than 30 sec and then 10 mins on what’s next for Carolina. What a gyp.

Yeah the talk in the media around both of our series wins has been pretty disappointing. We come back from down 3-1 against Pittsburgh who was dominating us, seems like a pretty great achievement right? Well all the media talked about was goalies and Crosby. The Rangers were a footnote. And now this series we were down 2-0 and 3-2 and we come back and beat Carolina on the road in game 7 and still all the talk is about goalies and what the other team did wrong to lose to such a bas team.

The ESPN broadcast was flat out awful. No other way to put it. You’re completely out to lunch if you think otherwise. They were extremely biased against the Rangers / towards the Hurricanes, however you want to look at it. Ferraro was the worst of the two by far. Going on and on about the Canes. Every game. Every Game felt like Game 1 where the broadcast team is laying the foundation to inform the National audience about each team, but in their case it was always about how good the Canes were with this part of their game or that part of their game. Ferraro only ever spoke highly about Igor, but he did it in a way that just sounded like the Rangers were lucky to be where they were and it was all due to Igor. It was a constant attempt to put the Rangers down, one way or another. Even with about 5 minutes left in the game last night, one of them started going on about the Rangers faced Domingue in round 1 and then Raanta in round 2, who they treated like a Vezina caliber goalie all series until the Canes is were officially going to be eliminated and all the sudden Raanta is now a lucky excuse for the Rangers success. I mean Ferraro legit sounded like his dog died when Chytil scored that 5th goal.

Couple that with piss poor timing of mid game interviews being dropped, either right before a period started or after a commercial break, while the play is happening live. Like get your shit together, this is the playoffs not some exhibition game in september. Then you have the ESPN feed cutting out a bunch in game 7. Just so bad all around.

And I saw one of your comments about getting Jim Hughson to come out of retirement…rumor (could be reported somewhere as well) that Gary Thorne wanted to do PxP coverage for ESPN and they passed on him. GARY f***ING THORNE.

Terrible job thus far. Hope they clean it up for next season because their coverage has been cringe and it starts with the broadcast teams/personnel they decided to hire. Again you’re delusional if you think otherwise with the above.
I completly stopped using the app the second game of the first series.

Probably mad he didn't do anything offensively the whole playoffs. 1 goal aint going to cut it in 14 games.
That guy plays pretty good defense, I suppose. But he’s completely inept offensively. He’s actually worse than Rooney. But his name is Staal so…

How about "Lindgren to defend"

This was when Lindgren was on the ice for this first shift upon returning to the game. The guy left the game and didn't look like he was going to return, then comes back miraculously, and McDonough didn't even acknowledge his return and just called the play like Lindgren never left lol

Trouba changed both series
Best hitter in the league

What a win
Absolutely. He is a difference maker, one of the very, very few dmen that change the very outcome of an entire series. Amazingly enough, we've got 2 in Trouba and Fox.

I'm f***ing bored with all the posters shitting on Trouba - have these low-IQ assclowns watched any of the POs and seen dmen getting burned in every game in every series??? Trouba and Miller are holding their own in this offense dominant postseason and Trouba has ripped the heart out of mentally weak teams like shittsburgh and carolina with huge, INTENTIONAL and legal hits. He's also contributed on the other end of the ice. He's having a huge POs for the Rangers.

“He wanted to win”

I will love Jesper for his contributions to the Rangers, but its very satisfying that he jumped ship on the rebuild and we've already caught up to and surpassed Carolina. They remind me of the pre-Cup Capitals, and they dont even have the stars Washington did. Not built for playoff hockey.

There is a chance and that's why I'm pulling for them to win and was pulling for them to win all last series. I wasn't sitting on my couch hoping for losses. I want them to win it. I'm pulling for it, against the odds, as we all are.

But if/when they lose I'm not going to be of the opinion that the extra 6 games or even extra 12 games was that worth it. The kids have gotten their experience.

We still really need some young centers.

We will be back here. This team is too good not to get back.

The real question is, is the team good enough to win it all? That's a much harder proposition. Getting to the Conference Finals is something this team knows how to do. 5 times since '94, thats like once every 5-6 years. It's finishing the job that it doesn't know how to do, and that's because it so rarely has the overwhelming elite offensive talent.

It is what it is - not worth pitching a fit over. We spent more heavily than people wanted to admit at the deadline and cannot do this every year. But it's a cost that we are going to feel. Need to rededicate ourselves to winning some transactions, value wise, after this. Can't be pawning off Kravtsov for a second.

I thought that call was hilarious and not meant in a bad way at all. He was poking fun at himself.

I really like Ferraro as an announcer, but that may be a minority opinion.

f*** that guy as a player though.
I'll take Ferraro every day of the week over Olczyk and Pierre. Haven't really heard him actively root against the Rangers the way Pierre did and have the same sour grapes opinions Edzo did.

The play by play is awful, although jokingly refreshing not to hear constant screeching and outright bias. McDonough is bad both ways. Gary Throne (spelled this way on purpose) isn't the answer either. The guy can't go five minutes without making a huge mistake, and not a Sam mistake with a wrong name or a post he calls a save. Thorne trades guys in the middle of the game and he's in three places in one night. He's a nightmare to listen to.
