Tbh, we don't necessarily agree on the D/Goalie ratio, but I agree with your point. I don't care why it's happening. There's no reason for this to even get tied with a 5-2 lead after the 3rd.

Look at the thread. Bunch of people just piling on Vitek, not even acknowledging the peewee level of play in front of the goalie.

This was a 5-2 lead, Idc who the goalie is. The team should not be playing the way they did.

I don't remember the exact numbers but Luke is closer in age to a majority of the top 10 in 2022 then he is to like 7 or 8 guys in the top 10 in his own draft year

Oh this game Vitek looked absolutely horrid and to be quite honest, he was lucky to have only given up two in the first.

People over here talking about the playoffs and how far back we are from the division lead. We are closing in on 25 games and are giving up almost four goals per game. Let that sink in. This combo of junior level puck management, shoddy D, being soft (not talking about hits), and shit goaltending is more than enough to miss the playoffs. We are basically last year's Sabres so far.

We can talk about how there's time to turn it around, but when you go two months playing like this with ZERO improvement...that's not great evidence that they are capable of doing it without some kind of major change.

They really didn't look like a threat to tie it for much of the game, except for when they got on the power play.

Even I was a bit surprised they tied it, and I'm always expecting teams to score a bunch on Vitek these days lol.

couple of rookie mistakes, but nemec totally passes the eye test with flying colors. you cannot tell me he doesn’t belong out there. for my money he’s one of the 4 best defenseman on this hockey team already.

I feel like having a goalie who can at least catch the puck would go a long way. The tieing goal wasn’t just the rebound given up that led to the shot, the whole sequence started by Vanecek not being able to catch a high shot and batting the puck for a high rebound.

He's not turning it around here. He's shown nothing that he's turning it around. In fact, he seems to get even worse every game.

Schmid was playing MUCH better than him anyway until that joke Sharks game on the second night in a row.

He did NOTHING to deserve the next game. He didn't do anything to deserve this game other than Schmid being awful on the second night of a back to back.

You kind of have to play the better goalie right now if you want momentum. Vanecek is not the better goalie here. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be the better goalie here this year than even Blackwood.

And I don't think Blackwood is better than him, that's just how done and spent he is here.

I don't know how some of you have any confidence in him at all.

I don't have tons of confidence vitek, but I think he can keep a string of wins for this team. I feel like he is still playing better than Akira particularly after watching his indecision of plays in the SJ game.

Nemec with the 3rd most TOI on the team. He didn't have as good as a game as Friday, but that's not a shot, he was damn good tonight still.

I'm very excited about him. His poise and calmness are very noticeable, he'll learn on some plays, but he's very intelligent and he skates very well.

I don't remember who mentioned it, but while it's true that losing Dougie's offense hurts, Nemec is the best possible replacement from inside the org and he's showing some good things. His skating and IQ alone are a huge plus compared to Dougie's, in both ends.

Having Luke and him for years to come is gonna be massive. Both so talented.

One was deflected. One was mis coverage by mercer, one early in the game was a guy behind miller or Marino

Last one maybe saveable. Yeah rebounds are bad but not all these goals on him.

No, but you need to get a big save every now and then. You can't have every grade A chance go in even if you make every other routine save, which he doesn't.

I don't want to pile on VV, but he needs to be way better. I do want to pile on Timo though. He was good in the playoffs, but before that and since then he's been mediocre to bad. It's very concerning. How does tiny little Quinn Hughes shrug your check off like it's nothing? How many passes to no one can you make? How many times can you circle back into the D zone and lose the puck resulting in a goal against?

Timo is my biggest concern as far as individual players go and the defense is my biggest concern as for as the team goes.
