Too tough to call from the outside. So this is a pretty heated debate and to be honest one of the stances is not one I've seen too often for a team in Montreal's position (have so many assets, not worth selling or discouraging players)
To avoid revisionist history/people flip flopping on their opinion down the stretch, what would you do if you were Hughes?
A) Trade only the ones with great value and stick to your guns and risk losing for nothing.
B) Trade all rentals at any price.
C) Sell AND buy like WSH or PHI did.
D) Buy.
E) Do nothing and shop no one.
On the one hand, I want to get a good 2c. Without one, do we really have a chance of doing anything this year? And to get that 2c, having a top 5 pick, a 1st for Evans and Armia, and a 2nd for Savard are quality assets to try to get a really good 2c.
On the other hand, it's hard to cut the legs out of a team that is doing well.
Nice that Beck and Struble are going good though. They help for the loss of Dach and Guhle. Maybe we could have traded Evans and Savard all along if those two hadn't gotten injured? Maybe we still can?
