Presumably, it will go up some.

South Korea's numbers are going up slightly.

France's increase may be slowing a bit.

I still want to know what Germany knows that no one else does. It's death rate is very low.

They tested a ton of people extremely quickly so they knew where the risks were. The people and country are also taking it extremely seriously according to my friends there. They say its crazy how locked down stuff is, and they are in much better shape than we are here. They also have state medicine there, which isn't exactly cheap but everyone is covered and they can afford to do that. Germany has a good economy and a small enough population to do stuff like that.

You have to be a special kind of ahole to do this.

Virus rebels from France to Florida flout lockdown practices

In the southern German state of Bavaria, Gov. Markus Soeder lamented that “there are still corona parties, there are young people who cough at older people and shout corona for fun and, above all, there are an incredible number of groups being formed.”

Also, a handful of the florida spring breakers are already self isolating and have tested positive for the virus.

I don't wish harm on anyone so I hesitate to call it schaudenfraude but science doesn't give a shit about people's wishes, a lot of these people are unfortunately not taking it seriously until they eat it themselves (or on someone near them, sadly).

No of course not, but it’s the whole package. Manhattan beach neighbors, goofing off with toilet paper when it’s hard for people to find. I dunno, just seems a bit in poor tasteo me.

Are they goofing or making the best of a bad situation?

If they've hoarded their houses full then it's not really that funny. But, if they're out of every day items like the rest of us then what's the issue?

Hopefully, none of them get seriously ill, or cause a person they know to become seriously ill. It is time to close those beaches.

The only positive out of them catching it is perhaps next flu season they will have helped to develop some type of herd immunity against the virus, but I don't think there are sufficient numbers of them. All of them who make a full recovery should consider giving blood. Their blood plasma containing the antibodies which killed the virus has the potential to save someone's life.

FDA is working on treatment for coronavirus with blood from recovered patients

Good thing you chimed in, I was really concerned about just how hard you could roll your eyes. Don't agree, fine I don't care.
can't take the heat, stay out the kitchen

i'm allowed an opinion too

You're not going to keep humans locked up in houses for months on end though. We're social animals.
I tend to believe you are correct, especially in areas of the country where there have not been large numbers of cases. Additionally, the economy can't withstand zero revenues for almost all of its businesses for weeks on end.

People are already becoming extremely restless.

Speak for yourself lol, I'm absolutely fine with the way it is now, but I believe you are correct, the economy can withstand zero revenues, as long as there are zero expenses during that same time frame, which is extremely hard to do, and it goes against everything I believe, but the government can do that, if it wanted to, it wouldn't be popular, but it would be safe.

IMO, shut down everything for 30 days, except for police, fire, EMT, hospital and food production and transportation. When you do that, you also have to pause, rents, mortgages, utilities, bills, etc. Zero revenue, zero expenses, 30 days, this entire thing is cleared up, and we transition back to normal functions....but that's extremely simplistic and easy to say, not do.

It's hard to take the 6ft thing seriously when the mayor is standing up at the podium with a gaggle of other supervisors and aids around him definitely not 6ft apart. People are reasonable. Stay home if you're sick. Wash your hands. Cover your mouth, etc. Past that, you're asking a lot.

Did everyone stop having sex during the HIV outbreak? Nope.

34 out of 50 states have reported no new cases over the last 24 hours.

United States Coronavirus: 39,371 Cases and 467 Deaths - Worldometer

If anyone is looking for some good news, have a look at what the curves are looking like in South Korea, a country which likely has reported data on the virus accurately.

South Korea Coronavirus: 8,961 Cases and 111 Deaths - Worldometer

One of the researchers I'm following tracks both cases and deaths but has really focused on the deaths curve since testing and reporting gets messier as it scales up even in a good scenario. Sorry to be cynical but "no new cases" to me screams "inadequate testing" more than it does "good news." I think of how hard it was for some friends of mine to even make the testing appointment and they won't even get the results for 7-10 days...that's like a 3.5 week turnaround on things. That's bad. We can only hope the measures we're taking are working as well as we hope.

Some states only report once a day. For example, Washington state reports daily around 3 p.m.
Ok, but the data still shows zero new cases for 34 states over some 24-hour period of time.

I am not saying throw caution to the wind, but if the governors of those states want to back off a bit and allow people to go back to work, I wouldn't blame them.

It may mean inadequate testing. It may also mean no one presenting with symptoms severe enough to require immediate hospitalization.

A couple of days does not make a trend, but in Italy deaths over the last three days are 793, 651 and 602 today. Positive tests are 6,557, 5,560 and 4,790 today.

Hopefully this continues.
I think the thing to watch for now is whether or not cases ramp up in China again, and how much they ramp up, now that they are going back to work.
