Last two years this team had an identity. This season everyone seems lost and no one on this team except for maybe Richards is on pace for more than 60 points. Very sad.

Incidentally, the two items that are the biggest problems with this team (the players and the GM) didn't like that identity. It was too hard :(

They've found some pretty creative ways to lose games.

Sather promised more goals. He was just shrewd enough to not commit to which team would be scoring them.

Hahahaha nice punchline. It's amazing watching an organization that worked their butts off despite the talent level to turn into one that whines like a bunch of emos when questioned about not being able to step up.

Brassard doesnt have a competitive bone in his body, neither does Nash for that matter. At least Nash is skilled enough to overlook it sometimes. Whats Brassard's excuse?

Brassard, Nash, Dorsett, Moore, Arniel -- keep importing losers and it'll only get worse.

Oh Brass is just a likable guy, you can't hold him accountable. Speaks the same language as the coach too so that's a plus. Appears to not be emotionally engaged nor play for his teammates, and stay on the perimeter when the opposition has a little size you know. Only skates with full effort for the 3 shifts after he scores his rare goal.

This is what happens when coaching staff looks the other way regarding a guy's compete level because he has skill.

Its obvious that the players took it easy since Torts left. Nobody except McDonagh, Richards and Kreider has showed us anything. They all look like they dont give a damn. Benching DZ and Pouliot will not prove anything when guys like Callahan and Girardi suck this year and they still get minutes.

What was their identity last year? Having the most expensive and useless top line in the league?

Having no depth at all?

I would be shocked if any of our players swayed Sather into firing Torts. Sather's staff even came out and said they found the offense and team last season very boring, especially in the playoffs. They believe our offense killed us, and they wanted more offense. That is why they brought in Nash. And when Torts would not change his coaching system/style Sather had no choice but to get rid of him.

I know Richards spoke out to Sather that he felt the system was too restrictive and limiting the offense but now you can see that its the depth and players.

Yes I wish we never got rid of Torts. I wish we never made so many changes from our 11-12 team. Doesnt make sense.

Sather needs to be fired

For starters, there was far more effort and dedication.

This team is lifeless. Happier players don't mean better results.

One thing I miss about Torts is his emotion on the bench. AV looks dead compared to him, except that intense gum chewing.

yeah, it's pretty sad, right now. At least the liquor stores are still open.

Are you not entertained!?!

I really would be shocked if there was more than like 1-2 guys who said something towards Torts. We know Richards had said something about the offense, that it was limited and restricted but besides that I am sure many players said nothing. These guys are 1. Hockey players and athletes who are probably blaming themselves over the coach for a loss against the Bruins and 2. Some of these guys are young athletes trying to make it or make a name for themselves and just happy they have a job and probably some happy to be in NY. Lundqvist's words were taken out of context, he didnt hate Torts he just was being a smart upcoming free agent. Id be shocked if he had any problems with how the team was performing in front of him offensively. He looks like the guy who puts the blame on himself and only himself. I know hes said something along the lines of the offense has to start scoring but I wouldnt take those things toooo seriously. Cally, Steps, Girardi, McDonagh, Nash. These are quiet boys who just want to do their job. Zuccs, Brassard, Kreider, Miller are just lucky to be where they are

I can see Richards saying that for sure. He probably had no hatred toward the coach, he loved the coach as history shows, but I am sure he felt that Torts/Sullivan were hurting the offense. I can also see Asham saying something behind the scenes cuz he had no problem saying it in front of the media

Either way, I do not see Sather being swayed by his players opinions. Its a fact that Sather and his staff found the NY Rangers boring and lacked what they feel was a better offense. They said that last years playoffs were unbearable and unwatchable hockey.

Now I agree that last year was not the best and it definately was a step back. But when is someone going to put blame on Sather?

I mean Torts had everything going for him in 11-12. Moving up the ladder. They destroyed that organization and had a face lift to the identity not realizing that now everything changes.

We have a team that is 1/2 ready to play Torts old style and 1/2 ready to play AV style... sadly we have 100% of AV and 0% of Torts.

There needs to be changes.
Pyatt has to go. He is not a battler. He is suppose to be a 3rd line grinder power forward. Instead hes a sluggish, unfocused player.
Pouliet has potential but hes inconsistent and now I can see why so many teams were ready to let him go. Sluggish.
Del Zotto is still young and has potential to grow. Hes pinching like the coach wants him to see but hes very delayed and his wishful thinking often has him out of position. He is soft in our zone, somethint that Torts wacked out of him but now is back to old habits.
Brassard was reviving his career last year and he loved it. Now hes useless. Hes back to his old ways too. Hes soft, hes predictable, he looks scared in a way.

Miller may not be ready for the NHL, fine. maybe Kristo too. But if your not going to bring these guys up make a goddamm trade.

Everyone wants to see Boyle go but Boyle is a solid 3rd/4th line center who can happen to also play wing if needed and a strong Pk. Big body. Comfortable in our system. Getting better every year. Hes fineeeeee. Leave him be. Hes a gladiator. We need more of him.
