If people are so hell bent on shot totals then I'll gladly point out that the Rangers are averaging a whopping one extra shot per game compared to last year.

First month was a joke and this last month they've looked a lot better a couple games aside. I'd give it a little longer before we start doing the comparisons.

I don't disagree but tell that to the people that have been bragging about how much the offense has improved despite being 29th in goals per game. I have no problem with celebrating the offense but it actually has to improve first. Otherwise it's just people being delusional.

To be fair we were missing nash callahan hagelin for a big chunk of the year. Its still very early. The Rangers have done well since the horrible start. Now they just have to be consistent and i think they will. Torts isnt a bad coach but i think AV fits better with this group.

What about regretting the Torts hiring?

After a hot start the Sedins have started to learn the Neanderthalic grind of Torts Caveman hockey quite well. Their stats are in free fall demise.
Vancouver now 5 points out of a playoff spot. Rangers 2nd in their division.
Canucks PP is at 11,6% and 28th in the league (Rangers now at 18,8% or 14th in the league).
Go Johnny go!!!

Kreider and Zucc would probably not be in the roster now with Torts. Kreider in Hartford and Zucc either waived, benched or healthy scratch. So they obviously don´t regret the decision :)

Saturday´s game should be fun. Torts back at the Garden with Vancouver.

AV is working with a roster largely built to suit Tort's style of play. Torts had years to shape and mould a lot of these guys, and now AV is dealing with untangling that mess. How about we give the man a few years to show what HE wants to do? So far, I'd say he's doing a fine job. Unlike the last few years, the team is WATCHABLE now. Some people are only happy if we win. I feel bad for those folks. I watch the game for entertaining up-tempo hockey. We have that now. It's all good and it's going to get better. Later.

Yeah, who cares about wins, the goal of any sport is just to look pretty while playing, execution and winning are an afterthought.

Dude if I had to be a Devils fan during the trap years I'd have shot myself

Yeah, winning 3 cups and finishing in the top 2 in goals for 3 years in a row and several other times in the top 10 would have me blowing my head off.

Watching the Rangers finish 7 and 11 in goals for as their 2 best scoring seasons in the last 15 have been great, not to mention besides those 2 seasons they finished in the bottom half of the league in goals for and more often in the bottom 3rd of the league (20-30). But it's cool though, we're Rangers fans right, we're cooler than the Devils and their lame winning.

lol

Cups are so overrated man! :D

I love these tough guys that look down on people that actually watch entertainment to be entertained. You guys are hard man. All you want is wins. You guys are so hardcore. God forbid someone wants to win AND watch a brand of hockey that doesn't bore them to tears. What a bunch of *******.

If you can't have both, what would you rather have? A bottom-dweller that plays high tempo and loses by 2 or 3 goals more often than not?

The bottom line is, watching your team go to the SCF and then win it in whatever fashion necessary is the most entertaining thing you can see in hockey. Otherwise you are not really a fan of the team, just a fan of hockey, which is also fine.

You can't say you are a Rangers fan, but would rather see them lose dramatically every night rather than win in a dry manner.

Optimally they play an exciting brand of hockey, AND win.

If we finish with 100 points in a season, rather than 109 and lose in the ECF in 6 games, but play exciting hockey throughout (well for the most part EVERY team has boring games), I'd find that season way more enjoyable than 11-12. Though the Rangers at one point in that season (starting with the SJ game and finishing around January) weren't too bad to watch. They could score goals. Though, I still didn't love their style. I don't think people that like exciting hockey will be rooting against the Rangers no matter what style they play. Nor will they necessarily take a bad but exciting team over a boring winning team.

BTW, before I get infracted. "What a bunch of *******" was a tongue in cheek joke about people wanting exciting hockey. The asterisks is a vulgar way of saying wusses. So I'm sarcastically saying that people who like exciting hockey are wusses. That could have been misread as me calling people who want to just win a bunch of (choose any name).

The devils from 1995 to 2005 were the Yankees of the NHL of those same years. They we're a dynasty team, got the right parts, and made the right moves. it's rare that this happens very often to a team, and I can almost guarantee the Devils won't be good for a long, long time now... They're headed nowhere, and Lou knows it with the assload of horrific contracts he has signed in the last 2 years, coupled with losing THREE face-of-the-franchise players...

Devils are irrelevant at this point, so let's not argue over this...

Rangers offense WILL come, but as was said before, it's going to take some months, if not a few seasons for AV to turn some of the roster over to some more skilled players, as well as some of the Rangers farm to develop completely. They've looked very good so far, and with instability that SHOULD have been expected. This is not the 94 Nordiques that went from bottom to top in one (shortened at that) season, that doesn't happen very often in today's NHL..

Yeah, who cares about wins, the goal of any sport is just to look pretty while playing, execution and winning are an afterthought.

thats dumb.. obv he likes how different the play is.. but i agree, some of you guys think we should go 82-0 and win decisively 5-0 all the time.. and not to mention nit pick the **** out of every game and every mistake a player makes..

but..

only thing i wish AV would do was to keep miller up and play him instead of Pouliot/pyatt on that third line..

the kid has size, skill and a solid game.. yeah mistakes will happen.. he may get lost in coverages.. but he's NHL ready.. its all about putting young players in a position to succeed.. play him with bras and callahan and tell him to go out and keep his game simple..

only thing i liked about torts was he got the most out of young players.. wish AV gave some a chance more..
