how many more points is it acceptable for Kallgren to blow?

that's 2 wins in 9 games.

Tonight he lost it by himself

you could argue he should have had the 1st goal

but it's the 2nd one that's the big problem because all he has to do is not play it and they win.

but he did choose to play it because he's an idiot.

I don't want to hear "there are no other options" because that's not f***ing true that's a lie.

option #1 play Murray

Option #2 call up Woll and play him he just got cleared

Option #3 give Keith Pietrozulli (sp?) his 1st career start.

Keefe Literally never has to play Kallgren but he continues to do so.

he continues to choose to lose.

how about not playing Kallgren and Choosing to win?

I can’t imagine he has any rope left after his late game gaffe that led to the tying goal.

Samsonov will be back soon, might as well give that new kid a chance in a favourable matchup for a cup of coffee.

I'm confused by people's expectations of him. He's the organizations 3rd or 4th stringer. How many organizations have Vezina Candidates sitting that low on the depth chart?

The mistake tonight was brutal, but generally he's been just fine and keeps them hanging around with a chance to win games. There's absolutely 0 reason for that game to even be close coming down to the final few minutes like that.

I don't need a Vezina candidate but I do need a professional which he is supposed to be

Third string goalie plays like a third string goalie. There’s only two roster spots for goalies at the NHL level, so the third stringer is an AHL’er on 30/32 teams in the league every year. It’s not about being “acceptable”, it’s about the fact that anyone better gets claimed on waivers immediately.

The issue is that we have had one of our main two on IR literally all season long. If we’re healthy, Kallgren never plays. If we trade some picks for a competent backup they just get claimed in a week when Samsonov is healthy.

And no, trying some other random AHL goalie in our system isn’t going to be any better. Try ‘em out, who cares, but they’re all AHL goalies and are going to play like AHL goalies.

Should have been waived a long while ago and some other plug should have been given a chance. Pretty obvious he couldn’t get it done.

So he's the reason we're losing in OT is he?

Not the brutal turnovers and dumbfounding decisions by the coach, it's all the goaltenders fault

It doesn’t always have to be just one thing. It’s been obvious since last season that Kallgren isn’t very good, shouldn’t be hard to find another option.

It'd be nice if the Leafs scored more, though. 21 goals in his 8 starts and they've yet to score more than 3 in a game. Kallgren is putting up 3rd string numbers as expected but the Leafs can't find a way to provide more run support.

Tonight's game should not have been that close in the last few minutes of regulation.

Sure, because we haven't tried that and lost almost every one of them on waivers

But sure, let's go through even more assets for a guy who's not going to play when Samsanov is back this week

He may make mistakes but he's a #3G, that happens but he's obviously giving this team an opportunity to win which they aren't taking with the brutal OT play

The concern is winning not whether some plug clears waivers or not and if they were claimed it probably means they did well in relief here, why wouldn’t anyone want that? Don’t they carry three goalies anyway?
I really don’t get it. There are tons of goalies, why not try another option when you know what you’re getting with this one? Why so loyal to this guy?

If you can't get them through waivers you aren't going to have a good #3G unless you want to carry 3 goaltenders on the roster

How many good goaltenders do you think there are exactly? Then when both of our guys are fit how do you plan on keeping this guy?

The same way they do right now just not with Kallgren.
You can’t honestly think a GM like Dubas who has passed all the tests can’t find another goalie ?
Are you saying it’s better to have a bad goalie so you won’t lose him to waivers?

We've tried that, we lose them to waiver claims and the ones that do get through (like Hutchinson) aren't any better than Kallgren

I'm saying if you want a good #3 he's going to get grabbed unless he's waiver exempt and good waiver exempt goaltenders aren't going to be a) easy to aquire or b) cheap to aquire
