I.E.
Total speculation, but based on a conversation we had in another thread.

In your opinion and best guesses, taking into account injuries and the play of other players, how many games (WITH THE KINGS ;) ) will Jordan Weal see this year?

Personally I'm going with just over 40, as we have several players that will be rotating and out, but I think with injuries and guys playing crappy, Weal will see his action and learn from it.

I went with 40-60. One more injury and he's in the lineup full-time. I could also envision a scenario where if he doesn't win favor with Sutter he gets dealt at the trade deadline.

Darryl doesn't like Weal. He asks for more out of his centers and complains they're not matching up well, but yet he keeps Weal in the pressbox. Andreoff sucks.

yeah i kinda wondered about sutter's thoughts about weal. first there was that snubbing after he was called up last year, then when they asked about weal's camp, sutter was ambivalent at best. then when asked about his debut he pointed out the negative. and now weal sits. some say sutter is just "like that with rookies" but he is more generous toward some. even when asked about shore's camp he said he was meeting their expectations etc. he's never effusive with praise for sure, but i kinda do think he isn't too keen on weal? dunno. maybe he just wants him to be really ready. maybe not. maybe he doesn't think weal fits with the kings, but management like him, so there's a struggle there and too bad for weal he's stuck in the middle. not getting his ear sliced off at least.:D

He's got too much skill and creativity and 5 ounces short on moxie (but he does have some of that) for Sutter's liking. So 7 games and under 6 useless minutes a game,
where he cannot be properly utilized. Will end up somewhere else and put up 15 goals and 40+ points by next year...close to Kopitar's production.

Gotta think Sutter is gonna give him a shot in Shores place after his 15 penalties tonight.

How many did Pearson get his first year up? Probably less then that baring another injury.

I don't see him getting much more then Vey did 26 or so I was close to saying the 10 -25 I am truly interested in seeing what everyone else thinks thou

Vey could go back to the minors without waivers, so he was playing all the time, whether in the NHL or the AHL. Weal doesn't have that luxury.

Linden Vey never found a spot in the la lineup and only played 18 games. i think this is whats going to happen with Weal

My point is LA was under no pressure to find him a spot because they could stick Vey down on the farm. They have no such luxury with Weal. So either they deem Weal as a valueable piece and find a way to play him or they give him the Ol' Andy Andreoff and let him rot in the pressbox.

this is what im trying to get across if hes in the pressbox and there is no point in keeping him He needs to be showcased and traded for picks while he still has some value Something like what happened to Vey Which is why i compared the two.We need to play our prospects to get there value up and use them instead of first round picks in trades to get pieces that fit.

I don't mind him sitting in the pressbox. It didn't seem to damage Andreoff too much. He's played his best NHL hockey this season and rarely played last year. THere is no place for Weal right now. He needs to be in the top 9 to be remotely effective and so far he did not play better than any of those guys. Who do you guys think needs to come out of the line up to get Weal in?

I'm sure he'll get a chance eventually but I don't think he has earned one yet. I don't blame Sutter for sitting him especially given where the team was 2 games ago. The team has/had much bigger fish to fry than developing this guy on the fly.

Why do people think a NHL team is going to showcase any player at the NHL level? They are trying to win games, not build trade value. This isn't a team like Buffalo near the trade deadline, this is the Kings at the start of the season. If Weal plays, its to help the team not to try and get a draft pick.
