I get everyone wants their pound of flesh. But I completely disagree with the overwhelming sentiment. He has assembled teams good enough to win each year. team hasn’t gotten it done. But he keeps evolving and getting better. if they barely made the playoffs or were getting swept each year fine. But emotional decisions are rarely the right one.

There is nothing to fix. He's good at finding bargains (except the Mrazek blunder) and he conducts himself with dignity and class.
Does everyone have selective memory when it comes to this guy? He had his first win on the dumpster diving this past off season. He brought us Jumbo and Vesey and a whole host of other useless guys that people forget. They act like Mrazek is the first time he goofed. It wasn't.

If you want to give the guy credit for Kampf and Bunting along with Kase...fine...I agree they were good finds...but lets not pretend it's a yearly occurrence. He did it 1x out of 4 shots.

For the record I don't hold losing in 2017 or 2018 against dubas as he wasn't the gm.

I also don't give him as much credit as the gm for turning the team around from last place to a 105 record in just three years.

What if we are "one well timed goal away from beating tampa" next year but still lose in the first round? Does that mean there is still nothing to fix?
You have to watch the games to see the nature of the loss. If one of the M's is out with injury yeah I give him a pass. If we get swept by a crap team its a different conversation.

You basically just got me to repeat " I don't take numbers out of the air and live by them without context."

I think next year is his last chance. I think if they lose in the 1st round again, he's 100% gone. And if he's not, then I will genuinely begin to question how serious this organization is about winning.

I'm already unsure how serious this organization is about winning.

They fired their goaltending coach for liking things on Twitter.

This was after Freddie said how much dusty helped him.

Keeping the same gm after four consecutive first round loses is bad.

But when you consider the team that dubas inherited and how little he has accomplished, it's disastrous.

This isn't an emotional decision it would be based on 6 years of failing

So a Stanley Cup finalist is the same as a team that goes out in the first round because in the end...neither won it all is what you are saying? Can I come work where you work?
According the OP it is as the goal is to win the Stanley Cup. So, if the team doesn't, they haven't met their goal.

Freddie never worked with Imo. Campbell did when Imo was with the Kings. Besides, Imo was hired for the Marlies.

They are satisfied with it because they don’t understand what winning feels like.

I've been following the Leafs since the early 2000s. I have very little experience in winning unfortunately.

Yet I seem to be the least satisfied with the results.

Lou was let go after a, then, franchise record of 105 points and a close series against Boston. Even though he inherited a sub 70 point Leafs team just 3 years earlier.

Dubas inherited a 105 point team and has zero playoff series wins after four years. Yet he's allowed to keep his job because the Leafs didn't completely embarass themselves.

I say "completely" because losing for the 6th consecutive time is still embarrassing.

Definitely after the next one.

Okay, okay, two more.

Fine, three.

Screw it, let him ruin things until Matthews retires. :sarcasm:

If the team keeps failing, wouldn't that mean he hasn't assembled a team that is "good enough to win"?

Also, if the Leafs won agaisnt tampa, wouldn't you be giving dubas lots of credit?

But since we lost, it isn't his fault?

Imagine trading a first round pick for an injured foligno.

Yet so many dubas fan boys act like all of his moves are gold.

It's like facts don't even matter to them.

He should already be fired. He’s had so many chances with an amazing core he inherited.

He doesn’t have the stones to make the tough moves necessary to win cups.

I don't know.

He is responsible for the bad marner contract.

What if he fixes that? Say he can turn that into a $9mm player and Kerfoot capspace into another another top 6 forward that doesn't disappear in deciding games?

Everyone should want a GM that corrects their mistakes?

Sounds like you should vote for the last option.

You would think leaf fans wouldn't want to waste any more years of this core.

Every year we lose in the first round is another year gone.

Yet so many are fine keeping the same gm despite failure after failure after failure after failure.

Not sure why this is its own thread. The " but it's a poll" excuse needs to stop as well. This topic is being discussed in what? Eight threads? This is going to be a long summer.

Everyone wants a gm that can win the cup.

That involves winning four rounds in one year.

Dubas has zero wins in four years.

I'd you are an actual leaf fan and not just a dubas fan boy, you should want kyle away from this team.

I wish i had made this poll last summer so I could check to see who said back then to give him one more year.

This also let's us see who the dubas fan boys are.

Well fortunately I suffered through Imlach so yeah I feel for folks who only lived through the pathetic years.

I won't be going to the grave Cupless.

When Dubas laces up and disappears in the playoffs I'll be the first want him dumped.

Right now I hold him accountable for the players who have come up short every year. The PLAYERS who continue to come up short.

He's responsible for all of the players on the Leafs who've come up short every single year.

Who the hell else would be?

If the players come up short, then the person who is responsible for them being on the team is at fault.

Dubas decides who's a Maple leaf, who coaches, who the trainers are, how much the players make, ect, etc.

If the team had beat Tampa, you would be giving duba credit.

But since they failed, it's the players fault.

The lack of logic coming from the dubas fan boys is astounding.

Are you willing to trade marner or Matthews?

Tavares is unmovable so you are left with the two biggest cap drains.

It feels like I'm arguing with kindergartens as there appears to be no logic or reasoning with them.

Instead of admitting they were wrong about dubas after four years of rooting for him and mocking those of us who saw through the charade, they are making even more excuses for him.

Did you miss the raptors trading one of their best players for another good player only to win the championship?

Yes I am willing to trade either.

Also, players have been traded with nmc in the past.

There seems to be some myth among the dubas cult that we can't trade any of our "core".

The NHL is a results oriented business. No one is un tradeable if you can improve your team.

Be thankful the usual suspects have gone into hiding/hibernation. Just wait until they start off next season with a few wins. Rinse and repeat.
