Studnicka looked good in the camps and exhibition games. Played well on the 2nd line. Tourney starts and he is an extra or 4th liner.

He has "Stud" in his last name, but he's not a sexy player, per se. Drafted in the 2nd round just isn't a good enough pedigree to be played higher in the lineup.

JAD - invisible, 1 pt in 4 games
Tippett - had 4 pts in 4 games - 2pts came against Demark
Suzuki - 3 pts in 4gp, pretty much invisible

I don't know. If you coached on an NHL bench with Ron Wilson, you're probably going to be a little dated, to say nothing of being ornery, out of touch, etc.

When Canada went 0 for 6 on the power play against Switzerland alarm bells should have been ringing. Did he even make a single adjustment to the lines all tournament? Normally every year some kid who's the 13th forward becomes a big contributor by the end of the tournament but not this year. If you were penciled in on the 4th line out of camp that's pretty much where you stayed no matter what happened on the ice. Tim Hunter basically spent the last year putting together the worst organized team in Canada's world junior history. Didn't he pretend that not having a coaching job elsewhere allowed him more time to dedicate to this team? It sure showed didn't it?

Also i am sure some players enjoyed being called out in the media by him

he is just aweful

Specially after a 14-0 win ... I mean it's perfectly normal to take it easy and respect the opponent when you are leading by more than 6 goals.

If there's one time you don't want to point fingers at players it's after an irrelevant 14-0 win.

A goldfish would have picked Glass or Frost to take that penalty shot. Tim Hunter went with Comtois.

I lipread Hunter when he made the penalty shot call, thought he mouthed "Glass" and let out a triumphant f*** yeah. We got this!

Then I saw "Max" jump over the boards...

Comtois isn't even the best shootout guy on his junior team, let alone Team Canada..

His decision to send Comtois out for the penalty shot was a terrible decision.

You send your best shootout guy to take that shot, not your captain because mythical intangibles.

He said they practiced it alot and he was their best at it.Your not at practice watching so you would not have known that.

Tim Hunter was terrible. Terrible line combinations, terrible adjustments to what wasn't working, terrible decisions.

The silver lining of this loss is hopefully Hunter never gets the head coaching job for Canada again.

Bouchard should have taken his own ****ing penalty shot. If not him, then Glass or Frost should have been the player chosen. That decision was so stupid.

There's probably about half a dozen guys with more creativity/goal scoring ability that could have taken it. That decision kind of epitomizes Hunter's run as TC head coach.

apparently he based it on what he saw during practice, which I don't know if I agree with. first of all, it was a nothing move. I don't know what was so impressive about it. But also, he should've looked at a larger body of work

Tim nose his hockey...

Then why did he take forever to decide? If Max was their designated shootout guy after all the practice then he doesn't sit there with a blank look on his face for a 10 count after being told he can chose any player. He's saying that to save his ass because he knows he cost Canada and all those kids a medal. It was obvious Hunter couldn't make this key decision and he blurted out the captain's name.

I'm glad some people are recognizing Hunters complete failure as a coach, the Hockey News had a pretty accurate article by Ryan Kennedy about how Hunter failed the team. He mentioned how Comtois and DiPietro stood up like men and took responsibility for the loss while Hunter deflected blame afterwards. So true, stand up and own it Hunter. An entire year with nothing to do but make decisions for this team and you pretty much got every one wrong.

The game or a medal was not lost on a penalty shot decision. Lol.

Canada scored 2 goals in 6+ periods vs the only decent competition they faced. Just not talented enough. This team was never going to win anything this time around.

Saying that, I believe he’s a terrible coach and shouldn’t be given another chance with this age group.

He does have a coaching job, he's Moose Jaw's coach.

that's analytics for you. took the best shoot out guy this year and he missed. should have used his gut when picking for the penalty shot. people would have understood and accepted the loss better then.
