How In The World Is Tim Thomas Not In The HHOF?

You have goalies like Luongo who won nothing and are in, Vachon who only has 1 Vezina, some pretty mediocre wingers/center/D who don't even sniff Thomas's peak, even his story of how much he overcame is amazing. He needs to be in the HHOF

The end of his career and how it unfolded really hurt his chances, I think.

When he played politics and refused to go to the White House with his teammates. He was still good for 1 more year after when Bos lost in the 1st round to WSH.

But after that he refused to play on the last year of his contract and was suspended, got traded to the Islanders and didn't report, remain suspended. He was not an NHL Starter after that with DAL/FLA and was pretty much done.

If he had just retired after 2011/2012, could be a different story.

Half is being generous. I'd make the case that Thomas had 4 starter quality seasons. Three of those quality seasons were great. Two of those great seasons were elite. One was one of the best years of goaltending start to finish we've seen.

What do you make with a goaltender who was great for 3 years and okay for one?

You have to count those gold medals too when you are getting inducted in the HOCKEY Hall of Fame. Luongo has his. Carey Price has his. And a Vezina, and he could have won a Cup if it weren't for Chris Kreider. Colie Campbell should always have his name engraved on the Bruins 2011 Cup victory.

Yeah, Tim Thomas's complete lack of any international accolades also doesn't help his case. He played in a few WC games, but was only the starter once, and that was when he was on his way to his final retirement. He played one game in the Olympics, where he allowed 5 goals.

Tim Thomas's noteworthy accomplishments is literally only his peak in the NHL in 07/08-2010/11. And, I guess, his lockout season with Jokerit in Finland.

His 2011 playoff run is also the second-best playoff run by a goaltender I've ever personally witnessed. In case you're wondering what #1 is, it's Jean-Sébastien Giguère in 2003.

If it is indeed the "Hockey Hall of Fame" and not the "NHL Hall of Fame," which I think it should be, I think it's stupid that Vladislav Tretiak isn't in it.
