None of the goals against in the championship game were on him, and most of the so called “soft” goals Canada fans were squawking about all tournament were not really on him either. Blaming the goalie for a perfect bar down/off the post shot or for allowing a goal after already making 2 saves on the play is idiotic....no, I admitted he was great in the 2nd half of last nights game; probably a half dozen times today...doesn't take away the fact that he was mediocre for most of the tournament...sorry facts are hard, amigo...
Binnington gave the team a chance to win every game, he was nails when the chips were down, and even ended up tied with Cale Makar in scoring. You beclown yourself with your takes on Binnington.
Hey, cut him some slack. He's watched hockey for 50 years and still doesn't know what a good goalie performance looks like. He's an inspiration for our more challenged fans.
I still don't like Binny as Canada's goaltender. He plays one good game in 4. That's not exactly inspiring consistency.

I dunno, were we? In the 3rd I looked up the game on money puck and they had the deserve to win o meter at 72% Canada.
He made the saves when it counted. Because of those 3 OT saves, he impressed me a lot more than Luongo did in 2010 (if I remember Luongo only made scoring threat save in OT). Like the coach said, he saved his best for last, or when it counted. Only 3 Canadian goalies may have had that much pressure and that's Dryden 1972, Brodeur 2002 ,Luongo 2010 and him...and this is the internet era. Binner is a winner

He proved me wrong in finals and was amazing. He should be starter for 2026 Olympics no ifs, and or buts.
Binnington was exceptional in the OT, and a major reason Canada won the tournament. Having said that, you simply cannot pencil him as a Starter one year out. He did allow soft goals throughout this tournament (including
in the final yesterday) and if guys like Logan Thompson, Hill, and Blackwood continue their stellar play heading into the early part of next year- the Number 1 Starting Goaltender for Canada for 2026 is yet to be determined.

Binner is in his prime. He should be their stater next year too. Ride him like they ride your sister on $1 long neck night at the nudie bar.

In the final? Canadians have the wildest definitions of "soft goals". Guess you're just spoiled from always having the greatest goalie of the generation and expect the same performance you would expect from Roy or Brodeur (even they may not have saved those).
The second US goal last night was a bad one that an elite goalie should never allow. Having said that, Binnington was exceptional in OT and kept Canada in it. That does not take away the fact that Binnington allowed
soft goals against Finland, Sweden, and the US in Montreal. All I am saying is that he should not be the automatic Starter for 2026 when you have big 6 foot 4 goalies like Adin Hill, Thompson, and Blackwood playing the way they are.
Those guys hopefully won’t see a minute of ice time

If that’s your definition of a soft goal then you’re likely to be disappointed no matter who is in net. Frankly, I think you have completely unreasonable expectations.

Binnington is definitely going to Italy. No other goaltender is a lock, so it is an open competition.
The nature of the Olympics requires a tandem so you will see two goalies get time, at least. You can then go with the guy you feel is in the best spot.
Every other team at 4 nations was set to ride one goaltender but poor performances, illness and a meaningless game for the US, led to multiple goaltenders getting time.

Yep, Binner was well on his way to stealing that series and who knows what else.
Before Kadri injured him, he was on fire. He had a 1.72 GAA and .949 GAA in the 2022 Playoffs against Minnesota and Colorado.
