I wish a different nickname other than Hollywood would catch on for him.

What about Elwood?

We'd then have a Jake and an Elwood:

Yeah.....Hollywood is so cringe. That place is absolutely satanic.
It is quite literally a cult. I teared up when Gene Wilder passed and probably will again when the likes of Mel Brooks, Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and Keanu Reeves go. Other than that, it's a cesspool of frauds and elitist mouthpieces. But I'm gonna go ahead and sidestep that rabbit hole.

Yeah I know. I don't want to be modded in what could be viewed as any sort of "political speech" on the board. But yeah. I'm waiting on (more) names..
I'll send you a DM in the next couple days. I've been meaning to do that with another member as we've discussed this issue already in private.

I don't think he's reached his ceiling of being a 70 point, power forward. Best to keep him on the left wing, unless you have many injuries at centre.

He kind of reminds me of JT Miller when he came into the league with the Rangers. I don't think anyone had Miller as an eventual PPG guy and I don't see that for Holloway. I see his top end being around a 60-65pt guy as I don't think he has the vision/creativity to produce more.

Love him though. I still can't believe the Oilers didn't match him.

wow that whole random conversation in a hockey forum was weird af. "hollywood" is not that deep...

Are you happy with 28 goal, 68 point Kyrou because that's the pace he's on right now. Not saying it's bad but it's not 35-40 goals and PPG. If he realizes the potential you're talking about then it's a different story.

There's only 1 $13 million player right now and even $11 million players like Marner, Pasta, Nylander and Panarin put up 90-100 or more points every year. Kyrou isn't close to that level, although at $8.1 million I wouldn't expect him to be. In his price range of +/- $8 million there are quite a few young players players out performing him (Hughes, Tkachuks, Stutzle, Thomas, Bratt, Suzuki) and a smaller group of guys that are performing worse (Jarvis, Hintz and Robertson are off to slow starts this year). There are plenty of overpaid veterans at that price tag that aren't living up to their deals, however.

I could see an argument that Kyrou is slightly overpaid based on current production more than he's underpaid, but the salary is probably close to fair. I doubt he'll ever be seen as a bargain like Thomas already is, though. When he's on, he's great. I'd just like to see that top form a little more often.
also really funny that everyone cries about kyrou not reaching 40g when tarasenko only got there once in his career...

I haven't heard anyone "cry" about Kyrou not reaching 40 but in case you haven't noticed scoring is way up in the last 5-10 years.

When Tarasenko scored 40 only 4 players scored 40 or more and the league leader had 50 goals. Last season 17 guys had 40 or more and the league leader had 69. 50 goals today is more comparable to 40 goals a decade ago. Context matters.

Merry Christmas and go easy on the egg nog

Giving up a 3rd rounder for a 23 yr old PF who’s going to score 30g who plays hard every night? Yeah, I’d say Army did ok.
His work ethic is why I like him. He is not a freeloading floater, our top paid players could learn from him and his relentless motor.

I'm more than happy with him being a speedy, 2-way second line LW that can put up 55-60 points per season consistently over his career.

He knows how to play a complete 200' game, and he does it at high speed. That's how hockey is won. You can also see in body language that he is a natural teammate. He is there to enjoy positive feelings on the ice with his group, which comes from winning, which comes from details and commitment, which comes from his commitment.

Before this season the Blues were several impact players away from becoming a contender, but he is one of them. They needed at least 3 long term impact forwards and at least 2 long term impact defensemen, with a few impact short term depth players too (like Fowler). Holloway is one of the forwards and we are day by day drawing closer to finding out if Dvorsky is also one of the forwards. Broberg is one of the defensemen.

They have enough other prospects who could become something and are trending well in a bunch of different leagues that while playoffs may be 40/60 right now for this year, 25-26 is a playoff season.
