How exactly are we re-signing the kids?

There are many teams that are in cap trouble. All the teams should just say, f*** it, and sign who they want. What can the league do to teams over the cap, really? Tell the league to take their cap and shove it.
You wouldn't want Pittsburgh to lose their team again, would you? Oh wait........
And what would happen to all those cheap owners? They'd have heart attacks.
What about poor Buffalo?

Yeah, I said he didn't have an NMC. He didn't. TB, if they were asshats, could've sent him to the AHL to, um, "motivate" him to waive or let him get claimed. The Rangers don't have that card to play.

You don't see it much on Stanley Cup contending teams, however, if the team has no leverage - which the Rangers don't.
Still, all in all a shitty way to treat your Captain after he helps them win 2 or was it 3 Cups? They seem to always stay ahead of the curve, making ALL the right moves. Cutting ties with the right players to gain even more sustainability. Amazing.
So very envious.

I see a lot of mentions of Kravtsov and Gauthier moving out. That really has nothing to do with the problem. They’ll be signed for low cost or they’ll be replaced by similar bottom 6 contracts.

If Chytil and Miller continue their production, we need to make a move. The player that will be moved is Barclay Goodrow.

Only Goodrow and Lindgren have tradeable contracts that can be moved to create the space. It’s not going to be Lindgren.

Chytil will get $5M+ on a 4-6 year deal and Miller will get $4M+ on a 2-3 year deal.

By that rationale, why even give Laf 1.5 mil? League minimum is 775k next year.

Laf will get the Kakko deal or slightly better. That's really not up for debate. If we need an extra 500k to sign Chytil, we either move someone or we reduce the term and AAV for Chytil so he fits.
I think Laf is around $2.5m for one year or $6m for two years. Something like that. Maybe a touch less. But I also think he’s gonna have an encouraging second half.

Why budget to re sign 25 and unders during a rebuild when u can put half the cap on 28-35 year olds and trade away 1st rounders and rookies for tye right to do it in some cases?

This is nyr hockey. It's different here

Edit: forgot I commented on this on the previous page. Very similar comment. At least I'm consistent

We have gotten players to waive before.

Some have formed an emotional attachment and don’t want to admit that certain guys will be gone.

The Rangers management is not gonna let themselves be held hostage by those clauses if they need that money, which they will sooner rather than later.

To pretend none of the high priced vets are ever getting moved is silly. Someone will be talked into it, just like happens round the league over and over again.
Just curious. How many straight up nmcs have been waived at the teams request? Like the team asks if the player can and he agrees

The only one I can recall is Kotalik. We signed him to a 3 year deal in 2009, then traded him to Calgary after 45 games. He had an NTC, not an NMC, so we might have told him we'd send him to Hartford if he didn't agree, but I don't recall hearing anything like that at the time.

Damn is that it across the nhl? I wasn't clear that's what I meant

No, just the Rangers. More recently, Ryan McDonagh waived his NTC to go to Nashville. Reportedly, Tampa told him that if he didn't waive, they would have to waive him, and Columbus was prepared to take him.

I know that a while back, Mats Sundin used his NMC to block a trade from Toronto. I'm sure there has to be an example of a player who waived their NMC at the team's request, but usually those things happen because the player requests a trade, like MSL and Nash.
