How do you improve the Wings?

I'm fine rolling with them both in that 6/7 spot, or just burying Holl in GR if we have to. Dealing them wouldn't exactly kill me, but I don't think they necessarily keep us from making other moves and if we make other moves neither of these guys should be seeing more than 17 minutes a night unless injuries hit us hard.

If Holl was just here with 1 year remaining like Petry it wouldn't bug me, but him having 2 years left is why I could live him being moved. But the main way that happens is if Aljo and Edvinsson are ready for next year's DRW and Wallinder finishes developing next year the way the organization wants him too. So a prospect has to prove to be better than him kinda.

With Holl I would probably be better to do a last year buyout though if we have one open then (damn you abby).

I'm more expecting for Trey to take 3-4. But if he keeps playing like he has 2 year's is possible just not likely. Though I admit if he only plays 2-3 year's post draft in the minors he very well could be a potential franchise level type guy.

that would be about the timeline Knight was on before stepping in as a backup in Florida wasn't it? But I think this was Askarov's 4th season since being drafted and he's still in the AHL? I'm kinda expecting Augustine to do at least another year in college, then he's going to GR for at least a year, probably more.

We go out and get a Markstrom for two years...that would fit Cossa really well, imo. And then we have to figure out if we want as inexperienced a tandem as Cossa/Augustine would be. I'm guessing the Wings will look to put another year or two in there unless one forces that matter.

I'd just bury him. He'd count $2m against the cap while in GR, but once the year ended we'd be done with it. If we buy him out his cap is only $1.1m but it's for two years... .

I'm really hoping we see two new guys brought into our top4 this summer. And we move out whoever we can move for the best assets possible. I'm not picky who those guys are as long as they're not Mo or Ed.

I could see Fabbri be a trade deadline kinda deal but I doubt Stevie does any major moves this year. I don't think Markstrom is worth losing assets for when we can get a cheap #3 vet goalie.

It sucks that Husso gets hurt so much, but unless like his hips are shot and he is done one year left won't kill us.

Does Holl have a NMC? I forget if he does or not?

I think we can get Markstrom for Maata and a 2nd. They might even take Husso off our hands.

I just have a hard time seeing any team giving up a 1st and a decent prospect for the guy, and I'm not gungho on packaging assets to move Holl or Petry.
Fair enough I'm moreso playing the "buyer pays the piper" card with this deal even though I know goalies typically shouldn't cost an arm and a leg these days. If we can get Markstrom for Maatta and a 2nd I'm stoked

This is not a good trade for Detroit. Berggren needs an opportunity to play before we trade him. A first rounder for Markstrom when he have two solid goalie prospects in the pipeline is a hasty move... feels like an Eric Cole trade.
I see it as Markstrom being a stopgap since he has 2 years left to which Augustine won't be remotely near the Red Wings roster and Cossa can possibly split come 2025-26

Berggren I do agree, however I feel he's gonna be a casualty here because Detroit's playoff push mentality gave him no chance this season. Maybe we won't resign Kane and Berggren fits in there. He might unfortunately be one of those guys that goes and thrives elsewhere too

nope, Holl can be moved wherever whenever.

Maybe it'd cost more but I'd be tempted to see whatever was available if it was much more. I just don't see goalies ever dealt for a whole lot. :dunno:

I like to see Perron with Kasper and Berggren next season. Kids needs to learn from pro.
Wonder if it is make sense to move Copp to top line and use him like Aby.
Copp Larkin Raymond
Debrincat Compher ?
Berggren Kasper Perron
Veleno Fischer Fabbri
? Seider
Walman Chiarot
Petry Maatta AJo

How has Forsling become this good? Vancouver and Chicago didn’t work out, but now he’s amazing. So steady. Could Johansson or Wallinder turn out like this? Probably a pipe dream.

Watching Florida Panthers team going to back to back finals really feels impossible we will ever be back to this level

Yes Forsling is a good example on why you don’t give up on d-prospects too early. He popped off in his d+8, people are getting stressed about Wallinder in his d+4.

Gibson is garbage as well. You need to look up his stats for the last 5 years or so.

To be fair, Gibson has been on a train wreck team in all those seasons that he has been "bad". Constantly getting shelled with shots and chances will wear any goalie down in the latter stretches of the season where Gibson's number seem to hit the snide the most.

Despite what some folks say you need elite players and constantly surrond them with good reliable depth options whereby when 1 pops off and becomes too expensive, the converbelt pushes another forward...

That's how sustained success happens

I think the issue that gets debated is the definition of elite. It seems that definition gets shifted to "you need top6 players at their positions in multiple positions" at times, and I don't see that the same as "elite."

Right now, I think Larkin is elite and guys like Raymond and Seider are getting there.

I think you need the
- barkovs
- Tkachuk
- bobrovskys

Surrounded by the
- Reinhart
- Bennetts
- Ekblads
- Forslings
- Montour

If you have that you can have sustained success,

Being a Canadian on the internet is an experience. In the context of HFBoards, this is a relatively even Canadian and American heavy website with a large "anti-everything about the other one" sentiment...which I understand because it's a hockey forum and that shouldn't really be unexpected

But despite all of that, for some insane reason, the one positive I read from Americans about Canada all the time, is a bunch of you seem to think that Tim Hortons is *actually good*. This is wild lol...TH has been hot garbo for years now.
I wouldn’t wish Tim Hortons on my worst enemy
